AUSTRALIA DAY

 ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

  1. Happy Australia Day! Fabulous photos showing off some of our stunning native flowers.

    I can proudly state too that we've drilled our students so well that now they know the second verse of our national anthem. Of course, there were quite a few teachers who had to learn those words first because they've never ever had to sing them before! I always find it fascinating that so many Aussies don't know that second verse.

  5. Happy Australia Day to you and Bill. I got an email from Colin about it today --but haven't had time to write him back.

    Gorgeous pictures of your Australian flowers. Love seeing all of those colors --especially in winter when it is so DRAB here now.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Great tribute Diane to Australia Day. I was so proud to see all the flags flying from cars. Not so much the "yaboos" with flags drapped around them and making heaps of noise!!!! Such a pity really.
    I won't dare mention the antics in Canberra on this day - disgusting.
    The Flame tree is magnificent, but not to be grown close to a house. The mess in the gutters - yuk!
    Great post as usual Diane.

  12. Sounds like fun! I love stuff like that. Arizona has a big day coming up and will be 100 years old on February 14th. I need to get out and start finding things to photograph of it.
