ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
For we are young and free;
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In history’s page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.
Advance Australia Fair.
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
We’ll toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those who’ve come across the seas
We’ve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

ReplyDeleteI can proudly state too that we've drilled our students so well that now they know the second verse of our national anthem. Of course, there were quite a few teachers who had to learn those words first because they've never ever had to sing them before! I always find it fascinating that so many Aussies don't know that second verse.
Great Australia Day post, Diane. Don't forget the magnificient Waratah.... NSW floral emblem...LOL.
ReplyDeleteHappy Australia Day to you!! The wild flowers are magnificent!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your fellow Australians a Happy Australia day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Australia Day to you and Bill. I got an email from Colin about it today --but haven't had time to write him back.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures of your Australian flowers. Love seeing all of those colors --especially in winter when it is so DRAB here now.
Hugs,
Betsy
Dear Diane and Bill, Happy Australia Day my friends. Such a wonderful post to celebrate this very special day, showing the flag to all those gorgeous wildflowers.
ReplyDeleteI was told that my Grandpa was from Melbourne.
ReplyDeleteGreat tribute Diane to Australia Day. I was so proud to see all the flags flying from cars. Not so much the "yaboos" with flags drapped around them and making heaps of noise!!!! Such a pity really.
ReplyDeleteI won't dare mention the antics in Canberra on this day - disgusting.
The Flame tree is magnificent, but not to be grown close to a house. The mess in the gutters - yuk!
Great post as usual Diane.
Colin
