TIME TO GET READY

The day after Boxing Day Bernie and Sonya and friends prepared the garden for the wedding on the next day. First though all the ladies had a breakfast and spa at the  Peninsula Hot Springs, it was a relaxing and luxurious experience.  The men looked after the children. In the afternoon the men played golf while the ladies minded the kids. By evening the garden had been transformed into a wedding venue. Two Marque tents were in place, lights decorated the trees, and the shed had been converted into a stage for the band. This was going to be a relaxed, casual wedding with lots of friends and family. Just one big party!

Sonya and Bernie hired a cottage where we were staying at Hiltonia Homestead B&B. Sonya came and joined us the evening before the wedding while Bernie stayed with his parents and looked after Fox.

So the next day Sonya got ready for the wedding in her cottage.
Sonya has many friends with a variety of talents. Remi is a hairdresser and came to the cottage to do her hair.
She's happy with it. We love it.

Sonya's friend, since they were babies, Jo, came to do her makeup. They were outside on the balcony. The weather was warm and sunny.

She is enjoying this day and it brings tears to my eyes to see her so happy.

Big sister, Carol-Ann helps her get dressed. "Let's do the shoes now."

"Is the bow sitting right?"

"Is that O.K.?" ("Oops my boobs have disappeared since Fox has finished with them.)

"I'm ready!...Let's Go!"

  3. Oops, I was a bit "after the fact" with the comment I'd left on your last post, Diane! I hadn't realised the wedding had already happened when I wished you all well.

No matter, though - at least my intentions were coming from a good place :)

Your daughter looked lovely! And what a truly wonderful way to be married - surrounded by family and close friends, enjoying every moment of the preparations. It all looked so unhurried, unrushed and authentic!

I'm looking forward to the next installment of pictures :)

    Hugs,

  9. What a lovely build-up to the ceremony. I can imagine how relaxed it all was with friends and family "attending" the bride. Both your daughters are beautiful, diane and you can be so proud of them. Sonya looked dreamy and so chic. I shed a tear just scrolling down the page.

  13. That's made me cry too. She looks fabulous - and very happy. Looking back, I think I almost enjoyed all the getting ready for my daughter's wedding more than the reception - that went so fast I couldn't take it all in.

Can Sonya send Remi and that make-up artist to Memphis to help me. I think they could make me feel so much better. I'm waiting on them!

  22. This brought tears to my eyes Diane - its all you want to see your kids bursting with hapiness. Lovely - can't wait for the rest. As for your question re: Why did Sheffield stop growing in the 80's - our Governmet (back then it was Maggie Thatcher) decided to use cheap imports from China etc instead of paying our own manufacturers living wages, so now all our (inferior) steel products come from abroad - leaving all our workers unemployed and clainming benefits. Personally, I think we paid a very high price for "cheap " imports and left ourselves very vulnerable too. (Now climbing down from Soap box!) xxx
