THE WEDDING

During the week between Christmas and New Year we went to Rye, a seaside town on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, to attend our daughter's wedding. Sonya and Bernard chose to celebrate their marriage in the back yard of his parent's holiday house at Rye. They both work in the entertainment industry and were keen to have a very relaxed, casual wedding, where everyone could have lots of fun.
So in the evening of 28 December, 120 friends and family crowded into the back garden awaiting the bride.

At the bottom of the garden waited the two most important people. Bernie, the groom and Fox, the ring bearer.

Instead of walking her down the aisle, Bill guided her through the crowd to the bottom of the garden. She didn't carry a bouquet but collected one on the way. Everyone had been given a sprig of lavender and gave it to Sonya or the two little flower girls (nieces) on their way .
They walked to the song called: "You're Just too Good to be True" and everyone was happy. One of Sonya's friends, Prue, was a guest but she is also a professional photographer and took the official wedding photos but I took this one of her taking the photos.

Finally she reached her goal. Bernie said he got all choked up at this moment.

She has her bouquet now and her SIL, Margaret, ties a white sash around it. Fox was handed over to......

matron of honour, Carol-Ann, Sonya's sister. The best man, Marten, Puts a sash around Fox's neck with the wedding rings attached. He looked so cute dressed in his posh clothes and he was extremely well behaved throughout the whole ceremony.

The celebrant (a friend of Bernie's) read the story of how they met. It was full of humour and had us all laughing.

Then it was time to be serious while they made their vows.

"Man and wife"
Then it was photos on the beach followed by the party. Have you ever been to a party where most of the guests are entertainers?

  1. Such splendid pictures of a happy occasion and a visibly 'in love' couple, with their adorable baby boy sharing in their special moment!

I absolutely love the originality of the bridal bouquet being gathered en route! Sonya and her Dad looked positively radiant together and all the guests looked so happy and very much 'in the moment' of it all. What a wonderful wedding!

Everyone looks so happy and with it! No, I don't think I've been to any gathering where most of the guests are entertainers. Greetings from Jo
