CAPE SCHANCK, MORNINGTON PENINSULA, VICTORIA

While we were on the Mornington Peninsula for Sonya's wedding we did a little side trip the day after.

We drove to Cape Schank right on the tip of the peninsula.

We walked through the National Park towards the sea.

I liked the twisted trees.

The board walk went right out to the tip of the point but there were too many steps for Bill and his sore toe and I wasn't too sure about my knees either so we didn't go all the way (wimps).

Instead, I admired the wild flowers and grasses.

  1. What a wonderful outing you've shared here with us, Diane. I, too, like the twisted trees! A couple of your pictures could have been taken in SA, there is so much similarity :)

    Gorgeous photos, as always!

  2. Hah! See that bit of green at the very end of the Portsea peninsula which forms one side of the Port Phillip heads? When I was in Melbourne last November to see Leonard Cohen, my friend Diane and I spent a day down on the Mornington Peninsula specifically clambering over Fort Nepean at the very tip which is an old WW2 gun emplacement. Fascinating stuff and with a bus that takes you out there, and comes back two hours later.

  6. It's been many years since we were there, not so many steps then.
Even if you didn't do the whole walk, you captured some of the beautiful scenery and plants there.
I particularly like the photo of the lighthouse with those flowers in the foreground.

  8. Wow, Diane;) your new look blog is beautiful and emphasises the photos. When I'm settled up in Kenya, I want to ready blog-hop starting with your camera club blog. Isn't it wonderful that we can say or nay to walking up and down, or coming or going. Ha! we just can and then do what we want to do! There was no need for you to walk thoses stairs: you captured the lines and the brilliant view so well. I love the flowers and grasses. We have a very similar grass called Setaria It's indigenous to SA and just beginning to seed now and attracting a multitude of birds. Thanks for the tour. And it was good to see you over at my blog again! Have a good week - Jo

  9. I don't blame you for going all the way to the end of those steps. You certainly got far enough to to capture some beautiful scenery.

  10. What a great side-trip! And a beautiful place for a National Park. We have a goal to try to see all the NPs in the US. Your pictures make me wish we could see Australia's too. Those stairs look VERY long and steep. I know we'd have done the same as you did.
