Mural Madness

Some mornings we walk around the ring road in Daisy Hill Forest.

Then BB drives to the shop to buy the paper and I walk home.

See the electricity poles? Each one has a mural.

As I leave the forest there is a mural on a fence.

Then on each pole that I pass.

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Ring Tailed Possum.

Brush Tailed Possum. I think it is done to help prevent graffiti. I'm not sure if I like them or not. I guess it gives budding artists a job.

Who puts those amazing pictures or paintings on the electricity poles? It is certainly refreshing to see those types of murals on posts etc. - let's hope the graffiti mob are kept away. Please keep us posted on the poles being the same as shown by you on the blog. I hope the residents in these streets are of the vigilante variety.
    Great photography as always.

  3. Yes, things like that are a bit ... mmm ... twee. But if it reduces graffiti and gives artists an income ... then ...

  4. That's a beautiful mural on the fence. The koalas always look so cute and cuddly but I bet those claws are sharp!!

  9. MMm ... that's the problem with murals ... they are so often not the best art. Not that it's bad drawing, just that it's so uncompelling ... compared say to tiled mural Julie posted yesterday.

The other thing is how many light poles, bus stops, connection boxes does one really want to see painted with pretty pictures.

  10. I like these Diane. What a unique idea someone had. Please be careful walking home by yourself like that. In the US that can be dangerous.

  11. I like them. Great artwork. And they are much better than notices stuck all over the poles. And like you said it gives starving artists a paycheck. Nice walk!

  12. Lovely spot walking among the tall eucalypts. The murals are wonderful - much better than plain eletricity poles, they add a certain charm. VEry talented artists too.
    Cheers.

  13. I like them, the artwork is great. They are certainly better than all the posters I see on some of our poles downtown. Your new header is great.
