OUT OF THE WINDOW

Sometimes it is too darn hot to go outside so I stay in the cool air conditioning and look out of the window and day dream.
This is what I see over the top of my computer as I look out the study window and wonder what to write about.

This is what I see while I am doing the ironing in the back bedroom.

This is what I see when I wake up and look out of our bedroom window. It is a Macadamia Nut Tree.

The previous windows are at the back of the house now for the front. This is what I see when I am cleaning the front spare bedroom.

This is what we see from the dining room table.
Out the back door.

Out the front door.

This is what I see when I visit Bill in his office downstairs. The weather is starting to cool ever so slightly and it will be a joy to go outside to play in the garden.

  3. Diane
What is the name of those plants in the last photo - I have been trying to describe them to overseas friend, they have long flower stems (?????).
    Garden as always looks great.
I am also enjoying the cooler weather, wish the rain would cease.
    Cheers

  4. Fabulous inside-out views, Diane. Your garden has come through the horrid hot wet summer so well ... everything looks wonderful. Up here it's not so much the heat that's keeping gardeners indoors, it's the rain. We're still getting buckets of it falling from the sky!

  8. You are surrounded by a beautiful nature around your house. Better then mine, I don't have those "green fingers", so it is a bit of a mess.

  10. So lovely and thank you for sharing. Lush and colorful compared to our white/brown/gray drabness we have here right now. Sigh....

  11. I love the look of your garden Diane. And I suppose it won't be long before I'll be able to say it's too hot to go outside. Not sure if our temperatures are on a par during the summer, perhaps not. No doubt I will be moaning about the humidity when it does arrive. I have an English friend who moved down to Florida and obviously it is much worse in the height of summer. She's never been able to stand the heat down there and told me they're moving to the California to be nearer her daughter.

Right now, I'm still looking at snow and dreaming of spring!

  13. Bromeliads!!!!
Yes Diane that is the name and there are heaps of varieties. I have them in 3 large pots ( which I can't move - too heavy and too big). As they were choking in the pots, I pulled them all out and just repotted one in each. I then generously offered the others to grateful neighbours who have planted them in their gardens. In a few years time, these neighbours may be cursing my generosity!!! ha ha - as they take over their flower beds.
    Cheers

  14. If this is a Bed and Breakfast ad, I am your next guest, lol !
When I wake up I see a white ceiling after (I mean now it's really white after the painters !)

  15. I think I would spend a great deal of time looking out the windows if I were to visit your house. The views are wonderful. While you're hoping the temperatures will cool down, I'm hoping ours will warm up!
    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

  16. Am I envious? Just a little... Sometimes it's too cold to contemplate getting out of bed in the morning!

  18. Diane your tropical gardens are so lush and green - perhaps making some of us Canadian bloggers "green with envy"? I think every one of us would trade our shades of gray and white with you about this time of year! Today we were surrounded by a blizzard for most of the afternoon. The snowflakes were huge and fluffy, dense and round or tiny...it depended on the hour. I believe it was -17C today. I only looked out to see the herd of deer - usually 21 that comes out to feed each afternoon as dusk approaches. they're digging into the snow to get at the unharvested clover. I hope tomorrow is a lovely gardening day for you!

  19. All your views look like paradise to me, Diane!

I was surprised how few places had air conditioning in Sydney! Is it usually cooler there than Brisbane? It didn't bother me too much as our hotel had air conditoning, so as long as I could sleep in cool air I was OK :)

  21. Diane, hope all is well and you and loved ones are safe from any damage from the earthquake tsunami. Such horrid devastation and so scary. I like your new blog design very much. The photos are beautiful. Looks like you live in a park.

  25. I am just sitting here in amazement, looking at your photos. The lush greens are so beautiful and all the foliage shapes and textures. Your garden is a work of art and you must be a gardening genius! Thanks for reminding me that summer will come and the rains here will stop (maybe) and that there will be flowers again. I'm glad it is beginning to cool. I'm thrilled to see how beautiful your garden truly is!

  28. Diane, you have lovely views of your garden. Your garden rivals some the resorts I have seen. I would enjoy some of that heat right now. I am still waiting for winter to be over.

  29. Your home is perfectly placed on its site! Beautiful views.

I was happy to know you're human ;>) -- staying indoors when it's too hot, and sometimes wondering what to blog about. You can daydream and show what you're looking at any time as far as I'm concerned!!

    PS: Ironing? What's that ;>)
