Sirromet Winery, Mt Cotton,QLD

On the way home from our early birthday lunch at Cleveland, we travelled through Mt Cotton a rural suburb, where I used to teach back in the 80's.

We stopped at the Sirromet Winery hoping to have coffee and dessert.

function room in the cellars

It is a nice building inside and they have a good air conditioned restaurant, however when we asked if we could just have coffee they redirected us to the cellar door cafe.

So we walked out of the main building around the back to the cellar door.

It was very hot and to our disgust the cellar door wasn't air conditioned so we found the coolest spot possible.

Under the shade of the trees (but it wasn't cool) overlooking the entertainment embankment and vineyards in the distance. I felt sorry for our young ones trying to adapt to the heat after recently leaving London. We had a cool drink instead of coffee and NO dessert.

  1. Diane, you are entirely too nice. I would have told them either I stayed there in the air conditioning or left for good. That is unheard of. What tacky folks.

  2. Oh no, I cannot believe such disdainful service. Diane, is that a deer in the corner of the first photo?

  3. I guess they really don't want repeat business. There are other places to go have a meal where you are treated better. Neat looking building though.

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. Such a beautiful winery! It is too abd they wouldn't let you have coffee inside...you might have ordered more if you saw the menu..their loss!

    ♥ Happy Valentine's Day! ♥

  5. Is that a kangaroo in the first photo?

I can't believe they would not have air conditioning, how rude. But it looks like you found a shade with a nice view. I love the last photo.

  6. I don't remember there being many wineries in Qld when I lived there but they seem to be springing up all over the place these days. I love that countryside but it does make me feel hot.

  8. Hey Diane!

Wow, the pictures on your blog have grown so BIG - all the better to see all that yummy food!

It's good to see that you're all still "adventuring", although it's going to take me a loooong time to catch up on all your news.

    Good to be back,

    Cindy

  9. Interesting how different folks react. I would have done exactly what you did - walk around the back like they indicated. Maybe we are too easy going and rule obeying, and dont demand enough.

  10. I can feel the heat! Yes, a cool drink sounds much better than coffee. That is quite a remarkable building.

  11. I would still like to change places with you for a month or two Diane. Any chance?
Amazingly, I am reminded of the words of my sister 'After all. We are ONLY the customer' This sometimes gets lost
