While we were in Stanthorpe we visited Strawberry Fields, a farm where you could pick your own.
Now the eating, yum yum. We bought ours from the shop at the same price as PYO. I am not keen on bending over for long time due to a prolapsed disc. Since we have been home we have made a strawberry pie and a strawberry crumble.

Diana was keen to do that.
First the flower
Then the fruit
Rows and rows of them

How lovely. I love strawberries...they look great. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYum! Beautiful fresh strawberries straight from the farm .... And you've posted from your iPad!!! That's fantastic Diane ... Did you download blog press as an app ... I,m so pleased that you've found a way to do this.
ReplyDeleteI am not happy with my attempt at blogging from our ipad. I was hoping to blog this way when we are away but........not happy. The photos are not clear I couldn't centre the text. I need more practice and lessons would be handy. Maybe in LA.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for strawberry season here. I love all kind sof berries.
ReplyDeleteBlogpress did a wonderful job publishing this post from your I pad , Diane. I will have to try it some time.
Wooo lovely Little Leo loves strawberries one of his favourtie fruits he will eat a whole tub of them if he can he also loves red apples and bananas......lol
ReplyDeleteI have a tub of strawberries but something is attacking the leaves and leaving long narrow holes in them. I put out snail bait, but must try something for slaters, too.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmm! My dear Diane.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberries look delicious, and so, no doubt, were the epicurean delights from such as made by "TOH" - strawberry pie and a strawberry crumble!!!
I don't recall any invitation forthcoming to partake in these delights????
I am sure I could have suffered QR to Kuraby where, possibly I may have been collected, or caught a taxi, with hopefully a driver who knew your address and didn't take me on an extended tour of the suburbs of your area?????
Cordially on this subject.
A slightly "miffed" Colin (HB)
Strawberry season os nearly over here made some stawberry jam and put a few bags in the freezer to add to milkshakes or ice cream. I love to PYO but have not seen a farm yet that does.
ReplyDeleteThose look delicious, I love strawberries. I think you did pretty good posting from the iPad but it does sound frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI saw the iPad comment at the bottom. I love technology but don't have an iPad yet, my iPhone seems to be sufficient for most things I want to do without my computer.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying strawberries throughout most of the season but I must admit the best strawberries I have every eaten was a box we bought from a roadside stall somewhere in California. I might be strawberry season over there next time you visit.
strawberry hills for ever!
ReplyDeletewhat a delicious post!
love me some strawberries!!
enjoy your weekend!
big hugs!
Picking strawbs is back-breaking work. You did well to resist! The ones we buy here are tasteless. I imagine they taste a whole lot better fresh from a sunny field.
ReplyDeleteYour photos look good to me, but I know what you mean. We need practice with all our new gadgets. I am SO challenged with my Nokia N8 and it's touch screen text messaging. Recipients often reply with "huh?" I strangely enough love wandering through a strawberry patch, picking strawberries, jamming them or making a pie. But I don't eat them: raw or cooked. Just strange me. (I was told last night I am the first weirdo here in Mwadui: a vegetarian AND a teetotaler - LOL) Great post. Jo
ReplyDeleteFresh strawberries are delicious and with whipped cream mmmmm.
ReplyDeleteStrawberries are of course very healthy things to eat. I enjoy mine with lashings of double cream and loads of sugar!
ReplyDeletei love strawberries, no matter what is made of them, just plain off the bush is great, and dipped in chocolate is to.
ReplyDeleteYUM! My second favorite fruit only to raspberries. We used to go to the UPick fields in Oregon when I was a kid and then spent the remaining days in the kitchen with my Grandmother making all things strawberry (jam, dumplings, etc.)
ReplyDeleteOur nearest farmstand sells them picked for the same price as well -- that's a no-brainer for me! (Used to do a lot of u-pick stuff when the kids were small and I was younger, ages and ages ago). Are you practicing with your I-PAD so you can blog more easily when you travel? I can definitely see the advantage of that (but don't know if I could handle one more thing to learn...at least that's how I feel today).
ReplyDeleteYes. I was hoping not to take my laptop as its easier to travel with the ipad. But I don't like it probably because I can't be bothered learning something new when I am comfortable with my laptop.
DeleteI aslo love strawberries, we eat them very often in our summer.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
When I look at these strawberries and read your title, I keep hearing "Strawberry Fields Forever" in my mind - cannot get those Beatles out of there.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought after reading your title was the Beatle son too. I do love strawberries and they are good this time of year. Nice and sweet. Have a great week ahead, Diane!
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious! I never knew it was fresh strawberry season here, I'm going to have to go and find me some of these tantalizing berries! Have a wonderful week Diane.
ReplyDeleteI love strawberries, but I, too, have back problems so we don't pick our own, although there are several such farms in our area. The Tennessee strawberry crop should be very good this year.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I pick them up through my screen ? I love strawberries and so fresh once must be delicious !
ReplyDeleteI love picking those but it kills my back. Strawberries are not my favorite taste for some odd reason, but I like to buy them and cut into pieces and freeze. I like them on hot cereal. Or cold.
ReplyDeleteMaking my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteMany years ago my Dad grew strawberries. He didn't do it long. They were a lot of work.
If it costs the same to buy already picked or pick your own I'm not bending over either. :)
mmmm... those strawberries look so good. Strawberries eaten fresh picked taste the best. We used to raise them when I was a child. I think we ate more right off the plants than ever got picked and made it to the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYummy-delicious!!! I love strawberries! I remember going to the you-pick fields with my Aunt and cousins when I was a youngster. It was hard on the back and knees even then.
