Winter Walk

As it is often too hot to walk in summer, we enjoy walking in winter. The Brisbane River has many walks along its banks. Last Sunday we just did a short part of the walk from South Bank to New Farm. One day we will start earlier so that we can do the whole 5km walk.

Today we started near the Story Bridge.

We walked under the bridge and onto The River Walk, which floats on the water.

When the River Cats go swooshing past the walkway goes up and down. It must be fun for the cyclists.

This is why the walk way has to float on the water.

There are houses and apartments on one side of the river and...

...marinas and apartments on the other side.

It was getting late so we turned around and headed back to the city of Brisbane.

  11. Hi Diane!
Sorry for the long absence! But don’t you think it was a great vacation; some very busy weeks and just a few days off... ;)

I was only twice in Brisbane, but it looked a quite nice town to me; now I see through your lens that I was righ!!! Great shots!
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is still turning around Iceland, now in Waterland... Enjoy and have a fabulous week!

  12. Hey there Diane....yeah, like a lot of others...have been spending way too much time over at Facebook....there are a lot of the 'old' Ponders there.....no Cindy though....I should try ringing her as I still have her number from my visit last year!

Grotty is there too - she cut herself off from the net, so is reliant on the hostel's cafe machines these days....

    As always....lovely photos......Kim Hoskin

  13. Has the River Walk been there very long, Diane? It's just over two years since I was last in Brisbane but I don't remember seeing it. I'd certainly love to walk it.

  16. Hi Diane. I've come over from Gattina's blog and my attention was caught by your comment. I live in SEQ, too, south west of the city, in fact. It's great to see another Brisbane-ite blogging and your photos of your walk are great.

  21. I came back for another look, and I just love the house in the third last photo - 'Queenslander' homes, with their lovely verandahs have so much character.

  22. Hi Diane. I was over at your memes blog and noticed you had this one called Adventure before Dementia! Well, I couldn't pass that up - great title and your header is truly gorgeous.

I love this water-floating walkway! Brisbane looks like a lovely place. I'll be back to see more!

  23. Diane, interesting to follow you in your steps and see the city through your eyes. Brisbane is such a nice subtropical city with its river. I am really a country girl but I appreciate what a city has to offer. I used to visit Brisbane, stayed at the then new Hilton and enjoyed shopping and strolling in the Wintergarden and visit the Museums. Now if I go up it is for a concert and then I stay at the Rydges which is only a short stroll to the Concert. I can not walk as well and as long as I used to anymore. My left knee, many years ago I had an accident, is getting worse the ligaments are loose. So I enjoy the virtual walking tours, so lead on girl!
