A WALK IN THE PARK 12

We have visited another park in our quest to visit all the bushland parks in our city. This one is Riverdale Park at Meadowbrook about a 20 mins drive from home. The park borders the Logan River and it was once part of Armstrong's 100 year old grazing property. The farmland is gradually being returned to native bushland by the council.

A variety of waterbirds can be seen from the pontoon.

However, on this day I only saw ducks.

On our walk we passed  this tree with interesting seed pods.

We could see the Logan River lazily winding its way to the bay.

There were lovely picnic spots and an exercise circuit. (Photos can tell lies.)

After an hour's walk we returned to the car through the afternoon sunlit grassed area where an Illawarra Flame tree was dropping its blooms as Autumn arrives.

  1. Your comment about the land being returned to bushland reminded me of Balls Head reserve in Sydney. In the 1920s it was almost bare and today is like as if it is native forest so it is amazing what planting and time can do.

  3. The photos are luscious. Funnily before I read the caption, I thought TOH was not behaving as his normal self.

  4. so beautiful, my favorite is the one above the smiling exerciser... i like to see parks go back to natural. we had a park that was all natural, the state came in and fixed it up and now we don't like to go there.

  5. It looks like a pretty spot to go for a walk. Interesting how many parks no longer have swings or play equipment [in case someone hurts themselves] but there is now a park with an exercise circuit!

  7. I think is my favorite park you've shown so far. It looks quite lovely with the river scene and the grassy area.
The seed pods reminds me of a chinese lantern plant.
Loved your caption for the exercise shot!

  14. Beautiful walk through this park, Diane. I love that the farmlands are reverting back to natural bush. And I love the guy on the exercise bike. I still have not managed to get Grant out for a walk after work as intended - and we've been back in Tanzania for two weeks already!

  15. What an asset our parks are and Riverdale looks definitely worth a visit. I saw a guide book to all our local parks in the Queensland Museum bookshop - a worthwhile purchase. I do envy you your wonderful neat photographs with borders. I'll have to keep practicing!

It was so good seeing you today and catching up on what a remarkable time you have in your life, certainly full of many wonderful adventures and great people. No worries for the reminder, would have hated if you had missed it! I love the pic of the flame tree and Bill doing some exercise:)

  23. There's nothing like a brisk walk to clear the cobwebs Diane, and the added exercise along the way is a little bonus :) Enjoyed the walk with you.

  25. Something for everyone! ... An Arizona RV Park where we spent a couple of winters had a circuit exercise walk path like that....somehow I found it kind of embarassing to use outside, even though I had no problems using the same 'machines' inside the gym.
