ON THE ROAD AGAIN

A few days ago we left Brisbane by car to drive to Canberra. It is about 1400k/1000m. We planned to stop a few times on the way.

After two hours we stopped for a driver swap and coffee in a cafe overlooking the Maclean River.

Next rest stop was at Macksville.

That evening we pulled into Port Maquarie and found a room in a motel overlooking the beach. We walked out the door for a stroll and was greeted by a lovely sunset.

I liked the light on the palm tree.

The next morning we set off for Sydney.
We arrived at our daughter's just after lunch. We had been stuck in traffic in one of the many tunnels under the city. But it was lovely and relaxing looking at the view from Carol and David's balcony in Vaucluse.

The next morning we went for a walk from their apartment along the cliff walk to .............

the Maquarie Lighthouse, the first to be built in Australia.

We crossed a small park and then we could see all the way up the harbour. It sure is a beautiful scene. Then we returned for a scrumptious breakfast.

  8. What a nice trip ! We used to stop too when we had to drive the 1200 km to Italy, when we were younger we did it in one shot, but that's too tiring for me now. I prefer to take it easy. The view from the appartement ist wonderful !

  10. I'm really glad to know you planned to stop a few times along the way...we stop a few times along the way when we're driving 100 miles ;>).....

Your daughter and sil live in a lovely city! And it really is a nice distance -- close enough you can visit back and forth occasionally and far enough away that it is Different! (Well and you know far enough away to be...far enough away ;>)
