The weather is warming up and we gave our big heavy outside table and chairs away when we had the deck resurfaced so it was time to buy a new light weight table and chairs.
We are a bit dubious about assemble yourself furniture as we always seem to end up with the wrong length screws or not enough pieces.
Luckily, our daughter, Carol-Ann, had to come to Brisbane for work and she came to visit us before returning to Sydney. So she helped us get it right.
Then it was time to have morning tea on the new table. It is much smaller than the old one but much easier to clean and move. Now we are ready for summer meals outside.
It is so exciting when family make a surprise visit.
Looks like a lovely place to have your morning coffee each morning! Seems so funny...you going into your summer and us going into our winter! This was the first day for cool weather (although I just turned off the air conditioner yesterday)!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely Diane, to be with Carol and also to be able to visit her and David while on your teachers' reunion trip. Enjoy your family and not to worry about visiting blogs as I think we all know what it is like when you're on the road. Wishing you happy traveling and visiting!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter has obviously inherited some very smart genes.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip and your family, and keep safe.
How wonderful, Diane. Love your photos. It looks like a wonderful place to kick back and relax...enjoy yourselves and stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI just love that deck. Have fun wherever you end up.
ReplyDeleteThe new table looks very nice on that lovely deck. I'd love to sit down and have tea with you. We could all have our laptops and blog. :)
ReplyDeleteA great family portrait!
Happy visiting and a safe trip.
Have fun!!!
nice post; well done Carol-Ann! Lovely photos and a great resemblance between Mum and daughter! Enjoy your time away Diane.
ReplyDeleteHope Sydney trip was uneventful on the highway. Enjoy your time with Carol-Ann and David, but REALLY enjoy your time in Canberra with ALL your old mates from long ago. Diane your new glasses photograph really well and Bill your toe has healed well too - doesn't look sore any more.
ReplyDeletea bit jealous that in your part of the world, warm weather is on the way !
ReplyDeletehave a great week
Oh yes I'm not keen on flat pack furniture either. Have put up a couple of outdoor tables recently at Whistlers Rest ... that is enough to do me for a while.
ReplyDeleteYou are ready for a long summer I see. I hope you can enjoy an outside meal many times.
ReplyDeleteWe will miss your posts but do them as you can. It is way more important to enjoy the moments first, you can report to us later! LOL Love your family shot there and the table will be well used I can tell already.
ReplyDeletefamily first, enjoy your visit. and like the table, good thing she came by to help. i am no good at all in putting things to gether that come out of a box. but is is the way to go now

ReplyDeleteTravel safely and enjoy your time away. Take care Diane
Nice table and chairs ! I am so jalous that you go towards summer ! Here it's getting dark each day earlier and it's also cold. What a nice picture of the 3 of you ! Enjoy your stay in Sydney !
ReplyDeleteThat was lucky your lovely daughter dropped by unexpectedly -- she has good timing! Have a fun visit and happy summer!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad she read the instructions! Wise girl.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a special hell for those who invent new 'do it yourself' stuff. And another one for those who write the instructions!! So I'm glad it worked out without loss of life!
ReplyDeleteDiane, it was nice to have your Carol stop by, at the most convenient time too. Love the family shot. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane! Enjoy your time with family and also in Canberra...and I like your new table and chairs. Outdoor dining is always a pleasure and I really love your deck! What a great place to hang out on a warm day.

Love that last photo of the three of you...

Have a wonderful trip...

Betsy
Is that a glass surface? Reported here sometimes the tapered glass just shatters.
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing place to sit in the summertime, I love the view! That was mighty kind of your daughter to help out with setting up the new table, she's beautiful btw.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reunion and time with family, I'm sure we'll be here when you return.
Cheers.
Gosh you can tell she's your daughter!
ReplyDeleteAren't the youngsters just so good with helping us assemble and/or fix things. I remember your old table (which you gave to your neighbors when you had the deck resurfaced, I think?) but this new one looks quite large enough. I'm following your travels and will keep an eye out when you can post again. Have a WONDERFUL time. Jo
ReplyDeletePS I meant to say, I LOVE the last photo of you, Bill and Carol!
ReplyDeleteIt's freezing over here in Victoria.
ReplyDeleteYou look so happy! Have a wonderful time and a fun reunion. XO
