A week ago we had a Swiss backpacker staying with us and we took her for a drive into the mountains to O'Reilly's Plateau.
It is a narrow, windy road through spectacular scenery and it disappears into.........
While we were there we went for a tree top walk on an old swinging tree top bridge.
The ferns were beautiful.
The tiny mushroom fungi were so delicate.
After the tree walk we meandered through the forest on a boardwalk. Backpacker Silvana and Bill.
She didn't like our big spiders.
That looks like SO MUCH FUN! She is going to have some super memories from her stay with you.
ReplyDeleteDiane, this looks like my kind of place. I love the rainforest, swinging bridge and the beautiful birds. Awesome photos.
ReplyDeleteI visited O'Reilly's late last year and I loved the views, the walks, the trees, and especially those birds.
ReplyDeleteI also liked the story of how it was found. A plane crashed here and a rescuer discovered this bush.
Thanks for reminding me how beautiful it is with such superb photos.
The tree top walk sounds fabulous. I don't think I would be overly fond of the big spiders, either.
ReplyDeleteWow---I'd love that tree top walk. What a gorgeous place!!!! I know that your friend loved seeing all of that beauty.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have company sometimes --just to make us visit places like this... Loved it!
Hugs,
Betsy
So lush and just gorgeous, would love to take this walk. So nice for your backpacking friend to experience and loved the video. Thanks Diane.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way for your backpacker guest to see some of our beautiful country..... It looks gorgeous and lush.
ReplyDeleteI would have been a bit squeamish around those spiders too. But the parrots, I LOVE!!! We had a pet parrot when I was a girl.
ReplyDeleteA jungle paradise!
ReplyDeleteWe had vines growing around trees when I was young and we used to cut them off and swing on them until they broke. It's a wonder we didn't break an arm or leg.
The parrots are beautiful!
Beautiful place so interesting I bert your visitor had a lot of great memories to take home with her.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful place, I would love to do the tree top walk. Your house guest will have some great memories of her visit.
ReplyDeleteA beaut spot to sightsee - love the tree top walk.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful, but also hot and muggy. Tree top walks are great. Our recent visitors from England were terrified of our spiders. At a cafe they spied a smallish one a couple of metres away and they wanted to move. We didn't but they kept a close eye on him/her. Oh god, it has moved closer(about one centimetre).
ReplyDeletebefore I got to the YOU JANE shot, I saw that vine and thought Tarzan. a wonderful hike, and i would love it.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and vibrant pics.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog.Following it.care to follow back?
That all looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThen again, today I *did* have lunch outside on the balcony with a friend. We both wore t-shirts due to the balmy, 9C sunshine!
What a beautiful wood, it must smell good in there ! Tomorrow I am off to the South of France and I'll blog from there.
ReplyDeleteLovely post with the beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteI like these boardwalks and bridges.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
O'Reilly's is a wonderful place to spend a day or a week. There is so much to see, photograph, or just to enjoy. Very nice photos, love the tree with the tiny fungi.
ReplyDeleteI love that -- a treetop walk! Some of the vines and greenery remind me a bit of here, but then we get to the wonderful parrots and I know I'm not in Florida any more. Wonderful walk!
ReplyDelete(I'm glad to be back).
O'Rielly's is such a remarkable place to visit! The tree top walkways were such a fantastic idea with wonderful views.
