My Story continued:
In 1977 the girls were at a nice age, 3 and 5. They were good at playing together and with our neighbour's children. However, it wasn't always rosy, there were some three year old tantrums now and then but no more nappies was a boon. (no disposables in those days).

We didn't go out much when the girls were little but we belonged to the local Lions Club and we attended the conference at Hervey Bay. Grandma came from Sydney and came with us to Hervey Bay in the Campervan. She looked after the girls when we went to the dinner.
Another time we went to a Lions Club Fancy Dress Party. We made Paper Mâché masks and dressed as Mickey and Minney Mouse. I made Bill his funny shorts too. It was a fun night.

Great shots of your children when they were little. I can only imagine how nice it was not to have to wash cloth diapers. You probably really enjoyed the rare night out with your hubby. Now you have every day together ;-)

ReplyDeleteThe Mickey and Minnie costumes are funny. The contrast between simple bubble pipes and what can make bubbles now is vast.

ReplyDeleteAhh, that's the stuff happy memories are made of! I offered to make my grandson a fancy dress costume a while ago and he gave me the oddest look, then explained in very kind tones you don't make fancy dress outfits, you buy them! Silly me!

ReplyDeleteoh cool the photos are gorgeous Especially the one of the kids on the bike. So great they played outside in the past. My friend is a member at the Lion's club as well. She helps mostly with charity stuff

Seems bubbles have entertained for years and still do. We never miss the chance to blow some as well. And Mickey & Minnie are also still entertaining...cute costumes, Diane.

Fun memories! Youtwo were a cute mouse couple! And I too remember (back so many years ago) how nice it was when all are out of (diapers) and old enough to play well together, more or less!
