A VERY WET WEEK.

Over the last two weeks we have had lots and lots of rain. In the last week the rain was non stop, day and night. I couldn't believe the clouds could hold so much water. We had a rain bomb hovering over South East Queensland all week. It caused much flooding in country towns and Brisbane. The road we live on had water across it in places but it never closed. We were safe the whole time but kept inside similar to when we had pandemic lockdowns.

The rain bomb didn't move for a week then moved slowly south. The black marker is where we live.

It rained and rained. Taken from our front door.

Taken through our bedroom window.

The following photos are from the Guardian News and Brisbane Times.

Riverside Restaurants and walkway.

Debris washed down the Brisbane River and crashed into ferry terminals and residents' boat pontoons and ripped them from their moorings and then they floated downstream becomining hazards for bridges and more ferry terminals.
We were safe from flooding and the weather is improving slightly as the bomb moves slowly south. Now the Northern NSW people are copping it. More floods and heartache.

  1. Your area was specifically mentioned in the news today as being hard hit but I was fairly sure it would not affect you directly.

Just a thought. All riverside apartment blocks should have an alternative power supply to keep pumps going to clear basements. But I think this time, it would probably have been pointless.

  4. so sorry to see and hear this. Hope it will move on and let you all recover. our NE had a snow bomb that did what your rain bomb is doing. i hope we are not going to have summer rain bombs. we are now 5 years in drought and need rain but not like your rain. we did not get hurricanes last year and now i am fearing the coming season

  5. Oh my goodness...glad you are okay but so sad for the others in that flood zone.
We need rain so badly here in Northern California...wish you could share a wee bit.
Stay safe and take care of yourselves.

  9. It sounds as if the weather in Australia has gone from one extreme (drought and fire) to another (rain and floods). I hope 'normal' weather returns soon.

  10. Flooding is so destructive--almost as much as wildfire. I hope more normal weather returns there soon, I'm glad you and Bill did not have any damage in your area.

  11. This was very sad to see, Diane, and glad that you were safely indoors and not in danger. My niece and her family were flooded out from their apt in NJ last Sept and lost nearly everything. They have been living at my brother's home since then and trying to find a new place, which they finally did a couple of weeks ago.

  13. So glad you weathered the downpour without flooding at your residence. It sounds like terrible flooding occurred elsewhere. Sometimes Nature seems to go on overdrive!
