REMEMBERING THE EIGHTIES

 My Story continued:

It was a hot summer in January 1980. The girls were given new outfits for Christmas from Aunty Ada.

It was an exciting time for Sonya. It was her first day at school. Carol was going into Year 3. They were at Springwood Central State School.

Later in the year my Mum and Dad flew from Sydney to visit us.
It was Dad's birthday in May, he turned 66.

A  week later it was Carol's eighth birthday.

We took Mum and Dad to visit the new Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha.

It was the last time my Dad visited us. He became sick and was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Saying goodbye to Grandma and Granddad at Brisbane Airport.

  1. What a nice memory. I guess you saw your father again in Sydney before he died. About 1978 with a friend I drove up the steep road to the then Mount Cootha. While I can't really remember it, I do remember it was very nice.

  4. I have a few photos of my small grasshopper self mid 80's and the outfits! It's like my mother or the era itself was blindfolded whilst picking out clothes. I just don't see that level of funky anymore

  14. Wow ! the pictures look as if they were taken yesterday ! It's nice to go through old pictures, I have photographed them the most important once and then worked with Picasa ! Result amazing. And I could get rid of all the albums which take so much place !
