My Story continued:
It was a hot summer in January 1980. The girls were given new outfits for Christmas from Aunty Ada.
Later in the year my Mum and Dad flew from Sydney to visit us.
It was Dad's birthday in May, he turned 66.We took Mum and Dad to visit the new Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha.
It was the last time my Dad visited us. He became sick and was diagnosed with bone cancer.

What a nice memory. I guess you saw your father again in Sydney before he died. About 1978 with a friend I drove up the steep road to the then Mount Cootha. While I can't really remember it, I do remember it was very nice.
ReplyDeleteQuite a poignant post but wonderful having these great photos of your Dad with the grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteYou have some wonderful family photos to illustrate your memories.
ReplyDeleteSuch wondeful memories
ReplyDeleteSweet memories!
ReplyDeleteI have a few photos of my small grasshopper self mid 80's and the outfits! It's like my mother or the era itself was blindfolded whilst picking out clothes. I just don't see that level of funky anymore

ReplyDeleteSad news about your dad, but from the photos in this post, there were many happy times during your parent's visit.

ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
A fun time and so poignant looking back -- so good you did get to have that visit with your dad and mom. Carol really really looks like you!
ReplyDeleteWow ! the pictures look as if they were taken yesterday ! It's nice to go through old pictures, I have photographed them the most important once and then worked with Picasa ! Result amazing. And I could get rid of all the albums which take so much place !
ReplyDeleteHow great you took so many photos! Those are the best to remember by I think.
