OPEN DAY GARAGE SALE

We had open day at the village and it coincided with garage sale day in the district. So we set up tables in the shade of some of the residents' caravans/motor homes. Some set up outside their garages. It was a good chance to get rid of stuff sitting in the garage for months/years. The CEO was pleased to see so many visitors in the village, some of whom were interested in looking at units that are for sale.

One of the entrances to the village looking out towards the main road.

Each street had a central stall but some residents sold direct from their garage. We gathered together in the middle of our street. Bill is doing a good job at selling our trash as someone else's treasure.

Coffee time. We needed the shade because the temperature was in the 30'sC

Our CEO/owner bought a bike.

Bruce and Coral deliver coffee to stall holders.

Coral also drives Beryl around to see the stalls because Beryl, a very active gardener, has a sore leg.

Some of the residents manned the BBQ and sold drinks and sausages.

We had the Coffee Truck and Japanese Food truck visit and the Local Radio Station
It was a fun day and now we have more room in our garage.

  1. Maybe your CEO will use the bike to get around the village. It must be a decent sized garage for a car and to store things.

  14. I thought you guys already downsized to move into the village so should not need to be a garage sale yet. Mind you we are downsizing and my hubby is still hanging onto a lot of his stuff ... I live in hope.

  16. It looks like a fun event, Diane. Our community does these sales called "garage sales" here and I've bought more than I sold...lol We also can sell or buy on a facebook marketplace group and I've used that quite a bit to buy and sell grandchildren items. Sadly Colorado has high covid rates so Christmas will probably have no family gathering for us--our children and grandchildren see too many other people and we can't take the risk. I'm so looking forward to getting the vaccine so we won't have to worry as much.

  19. Looking at these photos made me think of summer, which of course you are enjoying now. Meanwhile, we just had a wintry mix of rain and snow over the weekend and this week it's bundle up time. Nice that you could hold the sale right where you live as well. Looks like everyone was having a great time and I wondered if you had many outside visitors and hopefully bought some of the sale goods!

  20. Looks like fun is being had by all! We have something similar at our resort in Florida . . It sure is a good way to clear out and have a good time doing it. .... though you didn’t point it out, your last couple of posts show how well your country/states earlier restrictions have worked. If only our country had had them...sigh!

  21. This looks great, especially people walking around and enjoying "regular" life. As Sallie wrote, "If only..."

  22. I love the great sense of community you have there. We all need more of that worldwide. Isn't being able to purge "stuff" even better?
