AT LAST THE KIDS CAN VISIT

After nearly 12 months we are able to have our kids visit from Sydney. Travel between states was stopped during the Covid outbreak in Australia, but after months of tough restrictions we have almost got it under control. So at last our daughter and son in law from Sydney were allowed to cross the border with a border pass saying they had been  out of greater Sydney for at least two weeks. So they decided to drive the 1000 km to Brisbane and holiday in rural towns and National Parks on the way for two weeks.

It was so good to see them again. The first thing they did was wash their new car.

Then they took us out for lunch.

And bought me flowers

Then they took over the kitchen, we love that.

Next day a 10km run in the forest.

Christmas Eve Dinner together, which we thought would never happen.

Afterwards we opened presents with the Melbourne family via zoom in our lounge room.

The next day they left to visit David's parents for Christmas Day on the other side of Brisbane.

  2. Wish I was technological enough to set up Zoom via TV. Cannot get the kids to host via laptop, so we talk via video phone. Small and crowded but at least I can see their faces. Congrats to Australia for doing it right.

  3. No such luck for us but at least we now live very close to one daughter and her family here in NH. The other in NY State couldn't travel. Once we get the vaccine we will go visit them.
What a nice Christmas you had.

  4. You are lucky that Covid is under control. Here it is no so. We are back in a lockdown. Likely up to Jan 24.

  5. Such great news for you and your country. I'm glad you could finally be together and celebrate.
Isn't ZOOM wonderful for those times when one can't be together?

  14. Oh your smiling faces say it all! Glad you could spend Christmas with family. Your dinner looks delicious. I haven't hugged my grandkids for about 10 months now. I think we still have a way to go before they'll be visiting in person. Happy 2021 - stay well!

  17. Yay! I’m so happy for you. That shutdown was hell for you im sure, but it is why you have it licked now ... I wonder if we ever will over here. Not until everybody gets the vaccine probably. Good you all got together, if only with the help of Zoom.

  19. You were so lucky !!! We spent Christmas alone unfortunately the ZOOM thing didn't work properly on our computer screen (I didn't know that you can do that on TV, thanks ) my son hasn't explained anything he just sent us the link (typical) so we ended with Whatsapp. I don't know when we will be able to see each other again in Holland the situation is becoming worse and worse ! It's their fault when it started in spring they did nothing ! Just working from home and wearing a mask.

  20. We were both so lucky Diane, my lot arrived in Perth just an hour and a half before the border slammed shut again! They had a longer stay this time and were really sad to leave. It certainly made such a difference to Christmas having the grandchildren here. Hopefully soon we'll be traveling back and forth again 💙
