Every year we have a Lighting Up Night in December, where the residents turn on their Christmas lights and invite friends and family to walk around the village and enjoy the lights. Afterwards, they are invited to have drinks together in the community centre and be entertained with Christmas Carols from the Elements Singers. Let me take you for a walk around our village at night.
We even joined in and lit up our unit.
The community centre.
I know that videographer
Well, the neighbourhood makes of lot of efforts in the decorations!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people seem to join in the fun of lighting up their houses, which is wonderful. There are a few houses in my suburb that have decorated and when we go on our nightly walks I enjoy taking photos of them.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful displays of Christmas lights and decorations. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Take care, have a happy day!
Some are very stylishly done and others just fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely display of lights, it now seems a lot like Christmas! Hope you have a happy Christmas and all the best for 2021, let's hope we can get back to more normal in 2021.
ReplyDeleteWell they do look amazing, how lovely to see that in your village.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us up in the Northern Hemisphere there is something deeply surreal about viewing Christmas lights while wearing shorts! Have a good Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoying seeing how others decorate their homes. These are fun to see. Thanks Diane and if I don’t get back before the 25th, Merry Christmas to you both, and a Very Happy and Healthy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo festive! I bet it’s fun to take a stroll in the evening and take it all in.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas decorations in your village are absolutely beautiful. You got some gorgeous photos as well. It's wonderful that the entire village can get together for celebration and fellowship.
ReplyDeleteDear Diane, what a stunning display of lights and your captured them so beautifully. Uh-oh, Did you team up with that debonair videographer? Have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year. Best wishes. Jo
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. What a nice tradition. That sure gets one in the Christmas mood.
ReplyDeleteSue
Such lovely photos
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty for the holidays. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up our tradition was that after Christmas Eve services (which was always the childrens nativity) before we went home we drove around town and looked at the lights. I still try to get around to see lights. Makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely community tradition to participate in. Diane it appears that all the villas are two storey - this surprises me for a retirement village.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Christmas season :) We will have all eight children home plus three spouses - very full house!
It was fun seeing the holiday decorations in your neighborhood, Diane. Although, admittedly seeing people walking around in shorts is so different than here where we have snow and winter garb.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has joined in with the Christmas spirit. Lovely decorations.
ReplyDeleteWhat a massive effort everyone put into their Christmas lights and vignettes. I'm impressed, and gathering like that at the end would have been so festive. Cheers Diane! 🎄
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour. The houses all look so pretty, and I liked what you did with your unit. It seems funny seeing people walking around in shorts though, since it's so cold now on our side of the world.
ReplyDeleteThis is a marvellous display of Christmas lights ... it is a shame it takes so long for it to get dark so they display to their best (ooops I just remembered you don't have daylight saving and it gets dark much earlier in Qld anyway). I notice in your comment on the Perth blog that your family got to you before the latest border shutdown ... I am really glad for you as I was wondering how you go on. I am going off the air for a while (don't know how long) so popped by to wish you a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see :)
ReplyDeleteSending seasons greetings and wishing you a happy and healthy 2021.
All the best Jan
lets me type on these two
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and so warm looking (and I don’t mean just friendly warmth, although that sounds good too!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sharing time! We've got snow.
