SWISS DINNER

It's that time of the month again already for our monthly village dinner. This month the theme was Switzerland. The food and decor were hints of Switzerland but the guest speaker spoke about his travels through the Western Front War Cemeteries.

The residents' committee chairman welcomes the residents and speakers.

One of our local councillors was invited to say a few words.

The menu was alternate drop Chicken Thigh with Fondue Cheese Sauce, Potato Rosti and Vegetables
OR
Pork Loin with Yoghurt Cheese, Pickled Beetroot and Daikon, Potao Rosti and Vegetables.

I took a bite before I remembered a photo of the Pork. It was delicious and melted in your mouth.

Bill had the chicken

The students from Rochedale High catering course serve and clear the dishes.

Our CEO introduces the Guest Speaker.

Col Sutcliffe, our guest speaker.

The dessert was to die for. Swiss Roll with Toblerone Chocolate Mouse and Orange Sauce.

It was the last time these students will wait on us as the school year comes to an end and these lovely young people have to sit their final exams soon. They have had a tough year with Covid Lockdown for three months.
The CEO thanks the teachers for giving up their time to bring the students and allow them to have real hands on experience.

  6. Oh my, that food sounds and looks delicious. I agree, this year has been hard on students, so much stress on those so young.

  7. I can think of someone who should have been chief menu advisor.

  10. If people in retirement residences would see what you have organized I think they would make a riot ! Nobody is allowed to visit them except one member of their families. They are like in prison, of course the personal tries to entertain them, but it is really sad. And as there are more restricted rules since yesterday, people start to protest especially young people. As the bars and cafés are closed in Brussels which is stupid because in some cases you just have to cross the street and there the bar is open ! More and more secret parties are organized ! Fortunately I live in Waterloo, which is rather peaceful ! I wonder what we are doing on Christmas ?? No way to see Toby for the moment, they are not allowed to come and I can't go there leaving Riccardo alone, he can't travel anymore ! He has lost so much weight, now he weighs 73 kg for 1.88 and looks like a Skeleton. Bill must have been happy to return to Switzerland for one evening !

  12. Ooh, that dessert! Everything was so lovely but I had a moment when I saw you sitting so close to a neighbor across the table, no masks. My stomach clenched with fear and then I remembered — no Covid in your state! Crazy, I know.

  15. Envious. No masking wearing anymore there I guess unlike here where our idiot president has made a real mess of the pandemic response. In his case no response. The retirement community we left to move to New Hampshire is still fairly closed down. Very sad.
