Although there is a threat of a second wave of virus in Brisbane we are still allowed to travel within the state remembering social distancing and wear a mask in crowded places. So we did a short trip today into the country. The weather was a beautiful sunny winter's day and the sky was so big and blue. The plan was to drive to Wyaralong Dam to practice flying the drone and then onto the country town of Boonah for lunch. When we got to the dam we discovered a small sculpture park there. Unfortunately there were not many with descriptions or artists names.
Well we got the drone up and managed to bring it back safely without ditching it into the lake.
It was a pretty place and not many people about. The grass is dry out here as it hasn't rained for ages.
It was so quiet and peaceful.
Then we discovered a sculpture park and many picnic shelters with tables and benches.
I thought this one looked like a pelican

I'm surprised at the dryness.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice outing and of course I am envious of you being able to get out and about.
I expect drone flying is quite good fun.
We miss the outings so much here too. Life has become a bit limited for everyone. Lovely place you visited there with the sculptures. Glad the drone returned to you!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to get out, visit a new place. The views are pretty and the sculptures are interesting. I like the one your husband is standing next to. Take care, enjoy your day!
It must have felt good to get out, especially with those blue skies. The drone will give you some interesting photo options.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Sculpture Park downtown and I haven't been there in a couple years so they may have added things. But we haven't done anything so I'll just enjoy your sculptures. Glad you could get out
ReplyDeleteInteresting sculptures.
ReplyDeleteDrone shots are good..and nice to be able to get out and about.
Take care.
Did the drone take some of the photos? Lovely lake.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sculptures and am so glad you are able to get out and enjoy your bright winter day.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely lake.
I sure am hoping things will open up for us here in California...I am getting antsy.
Sue
The sculptures look interesting. It must have been a nice discovery.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you can still get out.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photographs.
All the best Jan
Sucha a lovely outing, and great photos
ReplyDeleteI've never visited that dam, Di although I know Boonah well. I'll make sure I see those sculptures next time I'm home although goodness knows when that will be! They look really interesting and the setting is lovely despite the dryness.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and the drone would be a lot of fun I imagine although it would take a while to get used to operating it. Glad you had a nice day out.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to make a day trip and get away for a few hours at least. Bill got some great shots with the drone. I hope that area gets some rain in the near future.
ReplyDeleteSo much blue! And you get to imagine names for all the sculptures yourselves since they weren’t provided for you. Your drone photos were very nice and glad to hear you landed it safely, too!
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice day trip ! I would love to have a drone ! Especially here on my 3rd floor with all the parks and trees around !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip Diane, was hoping we might see some of the drone footage 😊 Take care of you both 💜
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good day out. Sorry I am not keeping up with blogs or comments. Wifi slow and too much to do in the garden and the kitchen..... Keep safe, t'other Diane
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely place to visit!
ReplyDeleteThe views are fabulous!
So nice that you and Bill were able to get out for a day trip and we will be doing more of those here within NH this fall, especially with fall colors and perhaps less "leaf peppers." Glad to read that the drone didn't fall into the lake. Will Bill be doing a future post about his new fun thing? The sculptures looked very interesting and we have many here in Nashua, which I plan to include in future posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. I always love finding outdoor art!
ReplyDeleteI always love going on trips with you. I am guessing the first shot is a drone image - impressive. I didn't realise things had gone dry again up there. It is pretty wet in these parts.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fabulous surprise to find the sculpture garden, my kind of place! I love them all!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see you at 'My Corner of the World' this week!! Thanks for being here.
Even though we haven't been very far lately, I feel as though I went along with you on this lovely trip of yours. Super photos! Thanks Diane :)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy outdoor art and it was a fun thing to find on your excursion. Although there are no such rules here (because we’re living in a country run by an idiot) that is how we’re living these days too, staying close to home and seeking out new places close at hand. Our short trip to the Coast, next county over was the furthest we’ve ventured since we got home to Oregon. (Of course, showing what a two-faced person I am, it’s a good thing for us that we *could* travel from state to states back in March, otherwise we’d have been stuck in hot humid hurricane-prone Florida all summer.) ...... I hope your girls and families are well and coping with isolation ... we are glad we’re not involved directly with education ...pretty much makes it worth being old!
ReplyDeleteI like the sculptures in the park, they are strong looking and appropriate for their outdoor settings. Nice you could enjoy an outing and practice with your drone. Each state in the US has different rules, depending on local conditions. The different rules are NOT due to our President, it is the governors' choices.
ReplyDeleteI know it feels good just to take a little jaunt! This is a pretty place with a water backdrop and those sculptures. It looks like you didn't have any problem social distancing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful peaceful area and what a delight you found the sculpture park The first sculpture is absolutely amazing
ReplyDeleteInteresting art sculptures--the circular one looks Celtic. WE get out locally except the smoke from all the western wildfires have been keeping us home lately :(
