MOROCCAN DINNER

We can have our monthly dinners again. It was a Moroccan Dinner. Marinated Lamb with fruit Quinoa Cous Cous, Tagine of Vegetables or Moroccan Braised Chicken, Quinoa Cous Cous, Asparagus and Broccolini. Dessert was Orange Meskouta with date Salsa, Cinnamon Cream and Pine nut Crumble.

We don't get to choose who we sit with. This is so we get to know other residents. We were lucky to be with our friends from England, Karen and Eddy as well as Diane Dennis, who lives across the road but has been friends with our CEO ever since she started building the village ten years ago. Diane's husband was a descendant of the Dennis pioneering family of this area. Our street is named Dennis Rd.

We start the evening with drinks.

One couple even dressed in traditional Moroccan clothes.

The guest speaker spoke about her career in journalism via zoom because she had a cold.

Dessert

Our Ceo thanks the chef and gives him a wedding present from the residents and her. The Rochedale High School catering students offered to help out with serving.

The CEO and her staff used to organise the dinners but now she has asked the residentts to take over the job. So this lovely capable lady, Ann, has taken on the challenge. She has a band of helpers that has now become the Dinner Committee.

  2. I enjoy your dinners vicariously. You always have such lovely dinners and I like the idea of mixing up the diners so you get to know one another better. Keep safe.

  3. So nice to see everyone sitting close together and nobody with a face mask - it's amazing how quickly we've come to accept these things as "the new normal" over here. I used to have some Moroccan clothes, bought by a friend and me so that we could wander unmolested through the streets of Marrakech - it worked too!

  6. Oh, so wonderful you can share a meal with friends again! The food looks a treat as well, not something you would make for everyday at home. We are still very much captives in our own home these days.

  7. wow, how elegant...The food looks delicious and fun to have a chance to actually be together..
We, here in Northern California cannot do that yet...everything is masks, social distancing and no meeting inside...

  9. You always have such fun gatherings, and it's nice to see that restrictions have been lifted in your neck of the woods. It gives me hope that some day they'll be lifted over here as well.

  14. Another great get together you have shared with all of us, Diane, although it does make it a bit envious that you are able to enjoy such gatherings...and also very glad too. we have also done some socializing with friends but not in any indoor setting (sigh) maybe one day soon.

  16. I would like to attend that Moroccan dinner, the food looks delicious. Our confused governor here in California has rules that change by the day and is limiting what we can do where I live.

  17. Sounds like you are getting out far more than we are. We have not eaten anywhere other than at home since the end of February. We are going on a picnic (weather permitting) on Wednesday with friends but distancing will be in place. Have a good week and keep safe. T'other Diane

  18. Those dinner evenings are so nice! And wonderful you’ve come through the pandemic . (I can only imagine what that would be Iike, over here in our backwards country.). Hope it has gotten better where your daughter is as well.
