WHERE'S THE BEAR

On my walk home through the forest the other day, I saw that the teddy bear had gone from his tree stump. I wonder where? Maybe he has gone on a picnic because our country is starting to ease restrictions. We are allowed to go on picnics in family groups.
The teddy bear that sat on this stump for many days has now disappeared.

I started to notice all the different types of eucalyptus trees we have. They have different types of bark.
I'm not good with botanical names but we call this one a "Spotted Gum".

This one is an Iron Bark.

I don't know the names of these but I like the different patterns and textures.

  1. I love the forest and especially ones with nice trails. I didn't realize you had so many varieties of eucalyptus. I love to burn eucalyptus essential oil in my diffuser. Have a wonderful weekend Diane. I hope someone finds and replaces the bear.

  2. A teddy bears picnic is where that teddy is gone.
The tree trucks do look nice, and yet they all look similar especially the leaves when travelling along the road.
Glad you can have a picnic now - we not yet, but soon.

  4. I used to love our eucalyptus trees in Southern Africa, I miss them here. I did see one out walking the other day with similar bark and leaf, but when I crushed the leaf there was no perfume at all so I am none the wiser. Please stay safe despite being allowed to do more. T'other Diane

  9. I'm happy to hear that some of the restrictions have been lifted for you and that family picnics are now allowed. We, too, are beginning to have some restrictions lifted, although it will be a while before things are back to normal -- if they ever get back there.

  11. Interesting how varied the bark is on different eucalyptus species. I love to look at the bark patterns on trees. And I’ve taken lots of photos of the ones that fascinate me! I hope that bear went to a good home!

  13. I tried hard to learn about eucalyptus trees once ... gave up as there are too many and the differences not always clear. I too like photographing their bark, especially after rain which brings out the colours. Picnics are on in NSW too in one weeks time.

  14. Maybe the bear also went on a hike or perhaps a picnic now that some restrictions may be easing? All fun aside, glad you are able to get out and explore your favorite forest again, Diane. The eucalyptus bark is interesting to see.

  19. Love the bear hunt thing. You see them everywhere here. Some get dressed up everyday. The bear might have found a new friend :) Beautiful these trees I have never seen spotted gum before but I love that one.
A beautiful forest to walk. Hope it is close to you.

  20. There’s a children’s song called “The Teddy Bears Picnic”. ... just look for a big group of them, yours will be there socializing at a safe distance I’m sure. Pandemic walks really do give us a good reason to stop to appreciate the small beautiful bits of nature that we might miss if we had anywhere else to go at all )).
