BUSH FIRES RAGE IN QUEENSLAND AND NSW

It is not even summer yet and hundreds of bush fires are burning in Queensland and NSW. The forests and grasslands are so dry from lack of rain and there are strong winds pushing the fires into residential areas. Many homes and a forest resort have been burnt down.

It is a bit of a worry living right next door to a forest. Luckily, we are safe at the moment but the north coast and the south coast hinterland are burning. Many homes have been lost at Perigean Beach where we have often spent holidays on the Sunshine Coast just north of Brisbane.

  4. Fires are scary. We have sat out several here in the mountains but none have ever come close enough to be a real concern. I hope you are similarly blessed.

  9. fire is my worst fear, we can survive wind and flood but surviving fire will not work.. we have similar fires now out in CA.. but that is thousands of miles from us

  10. So frightening and sad to have your homes and countryside threatened in this way. Climate change is not helping with the natural disasters that are becoming more and more common. I hope you and your home are safe.

  12. These fires are terrible we had a few here in Europe too ! And we are so helpless against nature !

  13. That's very scary, isn't it? Seems to be the result of climate change, but we seem powerless against it. I can't really imagine the whole world will find the necessary will to reverse it in the time we have. So sad, not only for people to lose homes and livelihoods but for all the nature that is threatened too.

  14. My brother and his son are both involved in fighting these fires in NSW as they both volunteer in their local districts. Latest word from bro is that it is going to be a very bad summer.

  17. Hope you will all be safe. My husband was a former firefighter in NJ and so I well know the devastation fire can cause just like other disasters, sadly.

  18. Such a shocking situation Diane and as you say summer hasn't even started yet! I really hope none of them have been deliberately lit, that would be the worst!

  22. Very sad and very scary! So sorry to hear of all the fires and the devastation they are causing. The firefighters are amazing, and the reporter put himself in harms way to get the news out. These photos really bring it home.
