Our daughter, Sonya, brought the boys to Queensland's Gold Coast for what she called a 'sneaky holiday'. This is because she took the boys out of school for 3 days, last Thurs, Fri and Mon. Her husband, Bernie, couldn't come because he was sent to England for work. Actually it was to meet the fans of the show that he stars in 'Wentworth' as it is very popular in UK.
When our other daughter, Carol, heard of the 'sneaky holiday' she and husband David, decided to join us too. So they all flew from Melbourne and Sydney, respectively, and we drove (1 hour) to the Gold Coast to meet them.
We had hired two apartments at Burleigh Heads Beach and had a lovely time with family for five days.
Luckily our extreme heat has calmed down and the weather although overcast at first turned out to be good. Fox on the left had fun extending his hair with pine needles which just stuck on. Banjo enjoyed designing sand castles.
It wasn't long before they were swimming in the surf. They keep their hats and shirts on as well as suncream to protect their skin. Hopefully they won't get skin cancers when they are older. Queensland has the sad reputation of being the world leader in skin cancer diagnoses.
We are proof of that, both Bill and I have had cancers removed.
Sonya bought the boys Boogie Boards and they had fun learning to ride them. Aunty Carol and Uncle David helped as well as mum.
In the evening we returned to our unit to swim in the pool, jump in the spa and clean up ready to go out for dinner. Banjo conked out before we had finished.
Surprise holidays with family are the absolute best! You ocean water is so clean and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGlad you and the family had such a fun time Diane.
ReplyDeleteI love Fox's dreadlocks. I have had a few skin cancers removed from the my face but fortunately the sort that is easily removed with cream.
ReplyDeleteLove the "Foxlocks"! Parents can be fined for taking their children out of school in England.
ReplyDeleteHello, fun photos from the beach. I am sure you enjoyed the family time at the beach. Your grandsons are handsome boys! Enjoy your day and new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThe boys have grown up so quickly. Looks a wonderful time all together.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Diane, all that sun and fresh air is exhausting, I bet you all slept well at night 😊
ReplyDeletelove that long shot of the beach and water. wow. the kids are having so much fun. I think the reason there is so much skin cancer is because we live longer and back in our days there were no dermatologist looking at skin. we have been ejoying sun and beach for generations and I to have had 5 skin cancers. but I am old and now they LOOK for them. before we just enjoyed life
ReplyDeleteOh Diane, I did enjoy seeing all of your photographs.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to spend fun time with family.
All the best Jan
I truly love "sneaky vacations" too.
ReplyDeleteWe often did that when our boys were small....and also did it when the Grands were small too.
Precious memories.
It looks like such a lovely place to go and recharge the batteries.
What a fun and unexpected pleasure!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice family time.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely post. it's great to spend time with the grand children and your daughters and sil in such an attractive location.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if the 'sneaky holiday' was a great success. The boys have grown so much!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute they are! Love his hair 😆 it’s so nice they visit you, then get to go in the ocean....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous time it seems you all have had.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are lovely and great to see you all wore out one child :)
Sneaky holidays sound great to me.
You lucky girl meeting with your girls and the grandchildren. I haven't seen Toby for a while last time when he was here I had the flu ! Fortunately there is Whatsapp !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely time outdoors with your family. Makes me miss my guys so much! They are about the same age as yours, along with a 4 year old little brother. Such fun ages.
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks like such fun with the little ones!
ReplyDeleteWhen I came to NZ, I thought it was a bit of over-doing that the kids couldn't play outside without sunhats, but I had come from the US where you don't realize how polluted the air is until you leave.
I like the idea of a sneaky holiday and how good your family gathered for fun and frolic. That is good your grandkids are using sunscreen and covering up. Now I am intrigued with Wentworth and will see if Alexa will let me watch it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise to have a family visit, Diane. After your recent medical issues and injured foot, this trip must have really cheered you up.
