LAST DAY ON THE COAST

Recently we spent 5 days on the Gold Coast with our family. On the last day the weather was perfect.  We have a saying in Queensland,  "....where the weather is beautiful one day and perfect the next." Well we did have one overcast day but the others were great. I took a look over the balcony and wished we could all stay longer, but work called for the young ones.

Then I saw Sonya, Carol and the boys playing on the beach, so I went down to join them.

It was a bit cool in the water today so we packed up and went for a walk to the shops where the boys wanted to show me "Cheeky" the fish, which was in a Real Estate Office.

Later in the evening Grandaddy was cooking dinner and pretending to be "The Swedish Chef" from The Muppet Show. However, the boys had never heard of him (a bit before their time) so Grandaddy introduced the boys to 'The Swedish Chef" on You Tube. They really enjoyed it.

We were up early the next morning to drive Sonya and the boys to the Coolangatta Airport.  Luckily it is only 15 mins away. It takes them 2.5 hours to get home to Melbourne, where Sonya had to rush them to school for a colour fun run.

Time to say goodbye to these scallywags.

WHATEVER THE WEATHER

When we went to the beach with our family for a few days, we had one day where the weather wasn't the best. It was still warm but overcast with showers. It didn't stop the young ones from having fun. They went to explore some of the indoor attractions on the Gold Coast. Meanwhile I took a short walk on the beach to strengthen the ankle which I broke some months ago.

We did a routine walk to the coffee shop in mid morning.

The cloudy sky and showers provided a stunning sunset.

Looking towards Surfers Paradise from Burleigh Heads.

Carol snatching some well earnt relaxation.

FUN IN THE SUN WITH FAMILY

Our daughter, Sonya, brought the boys to Queensland's Gold Coast for what she called a 'sneaky holiday'. This is because she took the boys out of school for 3 days, last Thurs, Fri and Mon. Her husband, Bernie, couldn't come because he was sent to England for work. Actually it was to meet the fans of the show that he stars in 'Wentworth' as it is very popular in UK.
When our other daughter, Carol,  heard of the 'sneaky holiday' she and husband David, decided to join us too. So they all flew from Melbourne and Sydney, respectively, and we drove (1 hour) to the Gold Coast to meet them.
We had hired two apartments at Burleigh Heads Beach and had a lovely time with family for five days.

Luckily our extreme heat has calmed down and the weather although overcast at first turned out to be good. Fox on the left had fun extending his hair with pine needles which just stuck on. Banjo enjoyed designing sand castles.

It wasn't long before they were swimming in the surf. They keep their hats and shirts on as well as suncream to protect their skin. Hopefully they won't get skin cancers when they are older. Queensland has the sad reputation of being the world leader in skin cancer diagnoses.
We are proof of that, both Bill and I have had cancers removed.

Sonya bought the boys Boogie Boards and they had fun learning to ride them. Aunty Carol and Uncle David helped as well as mum.

In the evening we returned to our unit to swim in the pool, jump in the spa and clean up ready to go out for dinner. Banjo conked out before we had finished.
