While I was in LA we took the children to The Museum of Natural History. There was a Butterfly Pavilion there. We arrived early and got into the first group to go in. Firstly we had to listen to the instructions of the do's and don'ts inside the pavilion. The boys did a good job at listening.
The family are members of the museum and take the children often to the museum. There are lots of activities for children.
We all enjoyed looking at the butterflies.
I tried out the automatic macro feature of my new Sony point and shoot camera.
I forgot to take a shot of the chart identifying the butterflies so just enjoy their beauty.
I was quite happy with this one for a P&S camera.
Sonya is such a good 'Mom' as she finds time to go to the museum with the children before she goes to work between 12;00pm and 12:00 am at this time of the year.
We found a caterpillar and
a chrysalis
Before we left the pavilion we had to make sure there were no hitchhikers trying to escape. This one tried to get a ride on the picnic bag on Bernie's back. We were not allowed to touch them you have to ask an attendant to remove the hitch hikers.
It was an exciting outing for the kids and me. There were other activities we participated in which will be the next post.
Diene, butterlies are fantastic. I love catepillar, too.
ReplyDeleteHello Diane, the museum has a nice butterfly house. And your Sony takes wonderful photos. I love the shots of your cute grands and family too.
ReplyDeletei have no doubt that was delightful. :)
ReplyDeleteOh how cute, both the boys and the butterflies, I have always like butterflies
ReplyDeleteIt's such a pleasure to take children to magical places when they are good listeners! Very cute kids!
ReplyDeleteThe rule about not removing a butterfly from yourself seems unusual. I don't recall that in any other butterfly house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place to visit and your darling grandsons looked as if they really enjoyed the time there. A great place to have a membership
ReplyDeletebeautiful butterflies and photos of your lovely day out
ReplyDeleteYou must be happy with that new camera, Di. The macros shots are really good. The photo that played with my emotions is that first one. Bless their little hearts, standing and listening, one looking after the other. And I wonder where your daughter learnt her mothering skills??
ReplyDeleteWonderful are butterflies, so delicate.
ReplyDeleteThe children look handsome as does Sonia and Bernie....nice that you could be there to have fun with them all.
a lovely place to take the boys and I'm sure Grandma enjoyed it just as much. Your Grandies have really grown up but still as handsome as ever.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with little boys and "bugs"? Your first photo is so precious.

ReplyDeleteNice post. Being able to take pictures of information signs is one of the many benefits of digital cameras!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne (briefly)
It seems the camera worked a treat! Is that how you spell 'flutterbies'?
ReplyDeleteButterfly pavillions are great fun, but always a bit too warm for me to stay as long as ai would like to. The new camera produced some good close-uos. The grand children are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outing for you all. Your P&S takes beautiful pictures. Such a cute pic of Fox hugging his mum. Thanks for sharing this special time. Jo
