NASHVILLE BRRRRRRR

We arrived in Nashville in the afternoon of the 13 Nov. It was freezing cold and such a difference from Brisbane and LA. Luckily we had been checking the weather and so we were prepared and dressed warmly. When Bill pulled his bag from the carousel, he noticed a rip in the fabric. Uh oh our brand new bag already damaged. Remembering that travel insurance companies like you to report damage to the carrier first , we went to the baggage office and reported the damage. After a bit of haggling we were offered a new bag. So we struggled over to the taxi stand with an extra case.
We arrived at the B&B and we were pleased to feel the warmth of the lovely house and hosts.

The bedroom was very comfortable.

The breakfast room was bright and airy.

We dressed with many layers of thermals, shirts, sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves and scarves, stuff we never wear at home. We set off out into below freezing temperatures to walk a few blocks to a restaurant recommended by our host. Our bodies were warm but our faces were frozen.

The meals were huge. I ordered a pork chop and this is what I got. It tasted delicious with its roasted peach sauce and macaroni cheese , I would have preferred veggies.

Bill had salmon.

We are enjoying travelling with Kathy and Rob. After dinner we braved the cold night air and walked home anticipating the nice warm house. The next day we tried sight seeing in the Artic Vortex.

  1. You both are looking good.
Always the way, something new ruined in a flash so to speak.
That bed looks good as it's nearly 12.30am down here at home.
Can't imagine being that cold, but as long as you are warm.....enjoy.

  8. I am a bit late in catching up on blog reading, Diane, but enjoyed seeing this post and others detailing your travels to the U.S. Welcome and it seems that you are having a wonderful time reconnecting with family, especially your daughter and grandsons. Your Thanksgiving trip on the riverboat sounds like it will be a wonderful way to celebrate this American holiday.

  9. I have never stayed in a B & B I have suggested it to Tim but he won't have a bar of it, the food looked nice you are all rugged up against the cold and we are sweating so much it feels like we are melting.....

  10. Oh, the cold will be such a shock to your systems. The bed looks like one you can snuggle deep into, though.

  11. That B&B looks like hotelroom, very luxury. The American food is always to much, I don't know why there is always so much meat served, who can eat all that?

  12. Your B & B looks lovely and comfy. Shame about the bag, hope the new one is acceptable. When I was in Canada one November, I just tried to enjoy the novelty of wearing so many clothes. Stay warm!

  13. You come to Tennessee to be greeted with a torn bag and frigid weather. I'm glad Bill was able to get a new bag. I only wish the problem with the weather was as easy to fix.

  14. Welcome to our cold weather. It's supposed to warm up quite a bit here tomorrow, I hope the same happens down there :) I don't think the higher temp will last so enjoy it while you can. Maybe you'll get warmer temperatures further south. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

  15. I am just SICK about our weather this year... It is rare for us to have this kind of frigid weather in November... I'm SO sorry... If I could do anything about it, I WOULD. So SORRY... But--hopefully, you will make the best of your time here... Nashville is an interesting city.. Your meal looks delicious --especially the salmon. Sorry about your bag --but glad that the airline gave you a new one.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  16. Huge meals are all the go. In America. I think that is why doggie bags are often used where I rarely see it here.
