LAST DAY IN LA

Back on 16 Sept Carol and I were spending our last day in LA with Sonya and her family. Sonya didn't have to start work until later in the day and our plane didn't leave until midnight so we had time for a little excursion. Sonya took us up to the Griffith Observatory which is situated on Mt Hollywood.
There were great 360° views. It was also a very hot day.
The Observatory is situated in more than 3,000 acres of parkland donated by Griffith. He also donated the funds
to build the observatory which opened in1935.
My two beautiful  daughters (I'm biased)
pose in front of the Hollywood sign.

The Astronomers Monument

Sonya and the boys at the foot of the monument.

Time for one more cuddle before we leave for Australia. Little did I know that I would be back there soon. I leave again next week to help out while Bernie is away filming in New Orleans and Sonya is working on a production at UCLA.

  3. Oh, it must be a lucrative contract in NO. I think the boys of an age where the more they see you, the better they will remember you.

  12. Beautiful daughters. If they have to live so far away, you are blessed to be able to travel often to visit! It's been decades since I've been to Griffith Park or the Observatory. Nice to see a glimpse thru your camera.

  15. The boys are sure growing fast, aren't they?
I can't imagine flying back and forth that often, but I'm glad you're up to it. I flew from Vancouver, BC, to Sydney with stops in Hawaii and Fiji, then up to Brisbane, and by the time I arrived I was exhausted. When I got home, I went to my parents' house and slept for a week.
Your daughters are beautiful, and your grandsons are adorable.

  16. I know you didn't want to leave those cute boys, and now you're on your way back to L.A. I'm not sure I could take those trans-Pacific flights that often, but the boys will be happy to see you.

  24. I was in LA visiting my cousins a year or so ago. We tried to go up to the observatory one Saturday. I still cannot believe the number of people trying to travel up that hill. It was a half an inch a minute. Total traffic jam from the bottom to the top. We finally got up there and it was just ridiculous so turned around and went back down the same slow way. What I liked was the neighborhoods around that mountain. Some beautiful homes. One of these days I'll go over there when you are and we can have lunch somewhere.
