A WALK IN THE PARK 8

How time flies. This is a walk we did in Springwood Park back in Spring but didn't get to post it. Since it is too hot now to take TOH (The Other Half) out for a walk I'll show you one we did in spring when the Jacarander trees were in flower.
This Jacaranda Tree is in the front yard of a house near the park. It has a great shape as well as a dazzling colour.

We enter the park where there are many trees like this one. Jacaranda trees are not native to Australia but were introduced from South America.

There was only a short bush walk in this park.

We crossed over the bridge. There wasn't much water in the creek but I loved the afternoon light dancing on the new leaves of this rare deciduous tree in the tropics.

Soon we were back into the open park where there is a children's play area

The warm afternoon sunlight highlighted the crisp, fallen leaves and I played with DOF.(Depth of Field)

I should go out more at this time of the day to capture the evening light.

  1. I love those trees. We have a few here, but where I really loved them was a two year stint 2005-2007 in California. Spring and summer was glorious with those trees. Streets with them on both sides. So beautiful. I didn't have a camera then.

  3. The jacarander trees I saw in Alice Springs were one of the highlights for me. That looks a delightful walk to take TOH. Let's hope the temperatures cool a little for you to enjoy more walks with TOH.

  12. We had a huge jacaranda many years ago. It made a shocking mess, but it was still a pleasure to have.

  16. That tree is beautiful and you have photographed it beautifully as well. What I wouldn't give to see color like that now!!! I hope you will soon see the end of such intense heat! P.S. You asked where Lake Powell is.....I give some info about it in my post today.

  17. Jacaranda trees!
Lovely to see in parks, terrible trees close to homes and street gutters. As Andrew has mentioned, they make a costly mess for home owners and the councils.
Obviously Grafton, the Jacaranda Capital City of Australia, has a big budget for drain cleaning.

  18. It's a beautiful time of the day when the shadows begin to lengthen and the world takes on that warm golden glow.
the best time to be out-and-about with your camera. Your jacaranda captures are great Diane .... I know they only flower for a short time but they add a wonderful splash of colour to the street scape.

  19. What wonderful pictures Diane. You can almost feel the heat radiate from them, which, for people stuck in the depths of winter in the north, is a very pleasant sensation indeed. Wouldn't it be fun if we could swap climates for a day.

  21. You definitely should Diane, the light is gorgeous. Whenever I see the Jacaranda trees here in Perth it makes me think if Africa, there were so many Jacaranda lined avenues, they do make a mess but even that is pretty!
