COUNTRY QUEENSLAND

In August last year we decided to explore a little of this big state of ours.

First stop was Hervey Bay and Fraser Island


We went whale watching from the air taking off from the beach on Fraser Is.



Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island, the sand is so fine it is good for cleaning jewellery.

We went for a sunset dinner cruise along the Thompson River in Longreach. It was one of the highlights of the trip.

The Historic Corones Hotel. We had an interesting tour called "Tea and Tales " we also visited the Cosmos Centre and the Bilby Centre.

Of course we couldn't miss out the oldest winery in Queensland at Roma.

Last stop before home was Dalby.

  1. What neat pictures. And looking for whales by airplane. Would love that. I went over to Los Angeles, CA for 20 months and while there it was fun to go out to whatever point south on the ocean to sit and look for whales when they came through. I wanted to go out by boat but I never got the chance. That and boating and I do not get along too well. I get sick on them. :( But I'd have tried for a whale.

  2. Just saw your comment over at Cindy's so I blog-hopped over .. I haven't written much lately, I'm in the middle of changing my flat around. Bought a new lounge and desk. Took some photos of larakeets and maggies will put them up on my Down to Earth blogspot later.
    Love the landscapes they come up well in a photo don't they.
    Specially liked the Van Gogh landmark - beats the Prawn, Pear, Rooster (?) Banana etc. lol
