AROUND THE VILLAGE

It was sad to see Bill in hospital but he is home now and I'm looking after him. But when he was in hospital I went for a walk with my buddies into the forest early in the morning.

The Wattle, our national flower, was blooming and the Eucalypts were reaching for the sky.

That evening I walked down our street to visit a friend, who invites the neighbours for Happy Hour drinks. The sun was setting and lighting up the forest.

Now that Bill is home I go for short walks around the village. My mailbox is getting swallowed by the lavender bush.

This big Blue Tongue Lizard paid us a visit on the porch. They are beautiful and harmless.

One of the residents had another kind of visitor, A wallaby with a full pouch.

It's the first day of Spring today but these beautiful Magnolias were flowering early this year. They are in village Zen Garden.
We have been warned that it is going to be a hot summer with a high chance of bushfires. Not looking forward to that but I'm loving the beautiful Spring day today. Bill even went for a short walk on his wheelie walker. His knee is getting better and his cough has gone.

  2. After Bill was closed in a hospital room, I bet he was thrilled to be spending time outside. The walker was a great way to get around the wattles, eucalyptus trees and wallabies.

  10. Oh Diane, I'm so glad for you that Bill is home and getting better. What a lovely photo of the lizard. I heard and snapped our first Cardinal Woodpecker of the season (shared with Eileen) and I thought of you as I uploaded the photo. You taught me bokeh and I thought this photo was IT! I scrolled down, and yes, it's strange to see you in the kitchen. All the best and take care of yourself too. Jo

Love the wattle there on your walk Diane, it's ever so pretty, yellow always brightens up the bush.
    Take care.

  14. I love the forests towards the end of winter when the understory lights up with wattle. The rest of the year you would hardly know there are wattles there. Glad Bill is recovering.

  16. ONe good thing about being behind on visiting my blog friends is reading the good news at the same time as the scary post a couple back. I went backwards and started wilth the oldest first, but checked other two before I commented and I'm glad I did -- so much easier to say "thank goodness (your) Bill is improving"... I am SO very glad he is. I loved that your girls were able to be with you both at such short notice, I'm glad you were able to distract yourself with this lovely walk and your good neighbors. And most of all I hope the new prescriptions work miracles and I hope Bill gets better every day. And of course I hope that you learn to cook all over again (but I have no doubt you'll handle that one.) Glad you can smile through. .. . Well aware that every day it becomes more and more probable that one of us will be in your shoes and one of us in Bill's . Living each day to the fullest possible in the meantime, as you are!

  17. Beautiful photos. I'm glad Bill is at home and recovering. He probably prefers that to being in hospital. I'm also glad you can get out now and then for a walk. It's so hard as a caregiver to get time to oneself but very necessary. I hope you don't have so many wildfires during your summer as we have had here in Canada.

  20. Such beautiful spring flowers, and a handsome lizard. We have some small bright green ones that I really enjoy. Once in a while one finds his way into the house on an adventure and I have to catch him and escort him back outside! Glad to see Bill enjoying being at home again,

  23. Bill is looking good now that he is home and surely happy to be there. I hope his recovery continues to go well and that he will be able to get out walking with you. It's good to read that you were able to spend time with your walking friends and then go to a happy hour and see that beautiful sunset. Our weather is turning cooler here as autumn approaches and I hope your summer will not be too warm.
