We have made friends with an English couple, who have moved into the village. They have been here for a few years now but we were amazed that they came straight from London to the village at their age. It turns out that their son and grandchildren are living here in Springwood close to the village. They have assimilated very well into the Australian way of life. Eddie loves snakes so he is in his element here. He has trained to be a snake catcher and now has a local business of catching snakes that slither into peoples yards and houses. We often go out to lunch with them. It was his birthday and he celebrated at the pool area of the village. They organised the local Thai Restaurant to provide the food. They delivered it arranged in lovely bowls.
"This party was held before our border was opened and we were still free of any Covid", she says through gritted teeth.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Eddie. That is a huge snake, ugh! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Take care, have a great new week!
Kudos to their son, caring for his parents!
ReplyDeleteLovely birthday cake!
now that is one job he can have and one i would never do.. yikes on the size of that snake and i would pay to have one of those taken out of my house for sure. happy belated birthday to Eddie. sorry the evil pandemic has crossed your borders
ReplyDeleteWell, that's an interesting business to have. Coming from England was he aware of all the deadly snakes that you have there?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Eddie, and how lovely that he and Caren moved to the Village from England so that they could be near their son and family. That's quite a profession he chose. I wonder if he was used to snakes in another job (or hobby) before he moved to Australia? Merry Christmas and A Very Happy New Year to you all!
ReplyDeleteEddie can have the snakes.............lol
ReplyDeleteComing from England he wouldn't have had much experience catching snakes!
ReplyDeleteUnusual hobby to deal with snakes, but why not, they don't bother me !What a nice birthday party !To retire in Australia is a good idea, they probably knew Australia before. When I was in England nearly everybody had relatives in Australia ! When I read the history I understood !
ReplyDeleteOooo, look at that beautiful fruit! I think Eddie is a welcome addition to your community with his snake catching skills.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Eddie.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Wishes to you all.
All the best Jan
