VILLAGE MONTHLY DINNER

It was that time of the month when the villagers get together for a dinner and guest speaker. This month the  theme was winter. The menu was:

Pedro Ximenez Braised Beef Cheeks with Winter Vegetables , Sweet potato and Cauliflower Mash

Or:  Pork Fillet Vegetable Ragout with Sweet Potato and Cauliflower Mash.

Dessert: Flourless Raspberry Cake with Pistachio Cream and Mixed Berry Coulis. (forgot to take a pic but it was delicious.)

The roll up was a bit smaller than usual probably due to the cold weather and people being away on holiday.

Each month we sit with different people so as to get to know everyone in the village. This time we sat with Irene, a lady from Finland, and Stewart and Elizabeth. Stewart is always reading or at the gym or riding his bike. Recently he fell off his bike. He's been told not to  ride anymore.

It was their 47 years married anniversary. The two behind are dressed up for the winter theme.

It was a special night for the village accountant. It was her 25th birthday. She is the daughter of our CEO/owner.

Our guest speaker was a resident, David, who gave us an entertaining talk about his experiences as a pilot.

Once again the catering students from Rochedale High School did a good job serving us. There are two groups this year. They alternate each month to come to us. The hours count towards their qualification requirements.

  4. Sounds like a fun evening, you are really living it up. Tuesday we decided to drive to a bird park for a days get away, first time we have left our area for 15 months. Just our luck, the drive home which should have been 1 1/2 hours turned into 5 1/2 hours. Two trucks on the highway collided and burst into flames. We sat motionless for 4 hours with a temperature of 40 C, it was a horrendous. They finally got us on the move down the emergency lane to an off ramp then the Tom Tom got lost!!!
Take care and enjoy your weekend, t'other Diane

It's hard to think about it being cold and wintery when our weatherman says it's going to be 107 F. at our house today..Too hot for me!

  19. Another lovely gathering! Stewart and Elizabeth look like such a friendly couple. I am so sorry Stewart recently fell off his bike. My sweet other half wants us to get one but I am afraid I will do exactly that. My balance isn't the greatest these days. All that aside, I think it is great that your local high school gets involved with the catering. I think that is a super idea.

  21. Another wonderful get together with a delicious meal. All sounds a lot of fun and think it's a great idea how you get to know different neighbors every week. Do hope Stewart recovered from his fall. I get nervous around bikes at this stage of my life. My balance isn't that great in the first place but I used to love to ride.
