HUG THE FAMILY AGAIN

At last interstate travel is allowed again and our restrictions have been lifted. We have Covid under control with very few vaccinations due to a delay in vaccine delivery. So our Melbourne family flew into the Gold Coast for a five day break during the school holidays. We drove down to meet them. I had booked us two appartments at Burleigh Beach. It was so nice to hug them again after 15 months. We were lucky with the weather. It had been raining here for weeks but the sun came out and we had beautiful, warm, Autumn weather.

View from our unit.
A parrot came to visit

We went to the beach but it was a bit windy on the first day, after all it is autumn.

However, people were still enjoying the surf.

While I enjoyed taking photos with my new iPhone.

After the beach, the boys went for a swim in the pool

Then they were allowed "Tech Time" until dinner.

Next morning it was beautiful to see the sun rise over the ocean but it was very bright.

Then us oldies ventured down to the beach.

The family were playing football.

  1. How nice to be together again, it looks very pretty. Here things go in slowmotion, hubby had his first vaccination last week and I get mine next Friday. Than we get the second one in May and I hope we are then protected to the virus Covid at last!

  4. Isn't it nice to get out and away to meet up with family? We did that last weekend to see our youngest granddaughter who we haven't seen to hug since last August. I forgot it's autumn where you are. beautiful beach!

  6. So nice to see these family photos, Diane, and we too relished our Easter getaway to see grandkids after 16 months, just slightly longer than your reunion. Your grandsons, Fox and Banjo, have grown so much just like our grands. The new iPhone does take very good photos, which model is it?

  7. How joyous fo be together again! We will never take family visits for granted again, will we? Your boys are about the ages of my older grandsons and they have changed so much in the past 15 months since I have seen them, as did yours I’m sure. Not sure yet when I will see mine.

  13. How wonderful that you could spent such nice days together and even the weather was with you ! We have almost the same weather except that we are going towards summer ! I don't know when I will see Dario and family again, for the moment it's on What's app. He can't help me neither, he doesn't know the laws here in Belgium, and then he is so worried about his father that he makes me almost sick ! Don't need another one to take care of ! He seems lost !

  14. Lucky you being able to meet up with family. With our lockdown are are only allowed to travel 10 kms from home unless it is urgent, then we have to have a certificate dated, timed and signed to give the reason. Enjoy life while you can, I am not sure when we will ever get back to normal living and be able to have a holiday, let alone invite friends around for a meal!!

    Keep safe. T'other Diane

  15. Family get togethers are always great but after an enforced separation so much more appreciated. You chose a wonderful place to spend time together. I love your extra visitor on the deck. Hope the borders now stay open!

  16. I'm so glad you were able to get together is such a fun way! All the adults in my family have been vaccinated so we felt comfortable to gather together for Easter at our home and it was so good to feel "normal" again for awhile. Unfortunately, there is still high rates of virus going around the US so we are continuing to be careful until more people get vaccinated. Someone we know in NYC got very ill with a covid variant even after two vaccine shots. It made us cautious.

  17. All so wonderful! Sweet pic of the brothers enjoying tech time” together (and that term is such a great one, as it sums up what both your beach shots show ... that they both also be have other interests including outdoor activities! )
