OUT OF LOCKDOWN

We were lucky that the Brisbane outbreak seems to be under control with a three day lockdown, super contact tracing and ramped up testing. Over 1000 contacts have to stay at home for 14 days and be tested again to make sure they are still negative.

People were so happy to be able to go on Easter holidays, church and family get togethers. Restrictions still remain throughout Queensland; mask wearing inside buildings, no dancing, sit down in bars and restaurants and only 30 people in home gatherings. Carry a mask everywhere and use it when you can't social distance outside.

We enjoyed the outside by going to our local park and walked around the lagoon which was covered in lotus blooms and ducks.

These days it is hard to get down low for a good shot.

A Moorhen

The park has recently been upgraded with nice seating and picnic shelters as well as new observation decks over the Lagoon. There is a path and boardwalk all the way around the lagoon.

  4. Looks like a wonderful spot to go for a walk and enjoy nature. These refuges assume ever greater significance during COVID. It has been with us so long I sometimes have a hard time remembering how life used to be!

  7. Your contact tracing is pretty impressive, isn't it. My sister and her husband are two of the many who had to be tested and are isolating at home. Love your paper bark photo, reminds me of a walkway just out of Agnes Waters (south I think but turn me around and I hardly know which way is up). It's nearly three years since I was there and I remember it clearly. Strange the sights that creep into your my memory bank and take up lodgings. Happy Easter.

  14. It all looks so beautiful. We're in our official Lockdown THREE (after a lockdown two-and-a-half known as 'lockdown light') so the freedoms you Aussies have seen a long way in the future for us.

  17. I think Australia has the snap lockdown perfected now Diane, good to hear things are opening up again. I wonder if the new normal will always involve masks and distancing? Your park looks wonderful, perfect for a walk ✨

  18. I read both this post and the previous one to Bill (he who does not blog) and we talked about how wonderful for Brisbane that the three-day lockdown worked! I wish we could ever do something like that here, but it would never happen. We have too many crazies, there would probably be a civil war if the government tried to impose a lockdown. There are even still idiots who try to get into stores without a mask. But we do have vaccine. Bill has had both his ‘shots’ and I have an appointment for my second next week. That will be a relief......your nature pictures are beautiful .... Autumn is lovely in your beautiful State. I’m glad you could get outside.

  19. What a scenic park. Glad you're out of lockdown. I love that Moorhen shot. Bob and I have been fully vaccinated since mid-March. We're still careful about crowds though and wear a mask in public.
