We moved into 'Elements Retirement Living' three years ago yesterday. Time has flown past but we feel like this is home now. Although it was a scary and emotional time three years ago when we were not sure if we had made the right decision to move into a retirement village. However, we don't regret the move at all, we are very happy here and it is easy living. Our kids are happy too knowing we are in a safe place. The community is very friendly and there are heaps of activities. There have been some changes since we moved in. I'll show you in pictures.

There has been quite a lot of development but it is all quite aesthetically pleasing. I can imagine the anxiety about moving into a retirement home. I'm very glad it worked out for you both. There seems to be a lot of great activities and friends there.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your decision. The changes are definitely for the better.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you made the right decission and I see you live a very happy life there without stress. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how quickly everything has settled into place and mellowed. It looks a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteRe you having to practice social distancing there now? Here at our retirement community all activities are canceled and meals are being delivered instead of going to dining rooms. No guests allowed. Common areas still open but we are asked to stand/sit apart. Some of the chairs have been removed.
ReplyDeleteYes we are. All our common areas are closed. We don't have a dining room. All our apartments are for independent living. We cook for ourselves. We get groceries delivered by the supermarket and prescriptions delivered by the govt funded 'Community Flyer'. We have monthly dinners and parties in the community centre where there is a commercial kitchen but that is all closed now. We are holed up in our apartments but can walk around the village in the evening and the forest in the morning.
Deletethese scenes are common here in Florida, the growth is accelerating in an alarming way. our roads can't handle the traffic, our stores can't handle the needs. not just retirement communities but the whole county we live in.
ReplyDeleteYour retirement village looks fabulous! Love the new paint job, and the beautiful garden, quite a nice improvement.

Lots of construction and growing has gone on! That’s a lovely photo of you two and it’s wonderful that you are happy with your choice three years later.
ReplyDeleteHas it been 3 years? Goodness, where does the time go? Your changes all seem like good ones. You live in a lush environment. Stay well.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe three years have passed. Your happiness factor is no doubt because you chose well.
ReplyDeleteThat village complex was lovely right from the start, wasn't it? And the changes have been great, too. Keep safe holed up in your apartment. You can be busy thinking up new outfits for Birthday Bear.
ReplyDeleteSo muchhas changed in those three years. Looks like a wonderful area and community to have moved into.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right the place is great to live there
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your move and with what you've done since you moved in. it looks like a lovely place to live. i love the forest nearby. i am a little bit jelly actually as i don't have a nearby forest. :) stay healthy and happy
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you both way back then, how the village has changed..Take care, be safe.
ReplyDeleteHello, your found a beautiful home and community! It is a happy life! Take care, stay well. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your new home so much. The village has grown since you moved there, but it sounds as if the friendliness has remained the same. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteRetirement communities are changing rapidly because there are so many of us. I am really glad you like the move. Some folks do not and it makes for an expensive mistake. I think it depends on the type of people that move to these areas. They create the ambience.
ReplyDeleteHi, I can understand why you (or anyone) would want to live there... I know that both of you love it and it's a great place for fellowship/food/exercise, etc.... I'm SO happy for both of you.
ReplyDeleteDo you have much COVID-19 down there? We have 2 cases in our county --but not too much in East TN overall. Nashville has the MOST cases in TN.
Hugs,
Betsy
Your development has certainly undergone many changes, Diane, in the 3 years since you and Bill moved there. Thanks for showing the progress in this photo series. It's unfortunate that all the community functions have been stopped, but safety is more important now than socialization.
ReplyDeleteWow that seems like a short 3 years to me. Stay safe and keep well. t'other Diane
ReplyDeleteIt looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteGosh, three years has gone quickly! Glad you're settled happily there. It all looks very lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Diane, its always good when you can say you've made the right decision about something as important as that.
ReplyDeleteYour unit and surroundings look great and to be able to enjoy nature in the way of a garden and adjoining bushland would be the cherry on top.
Good wishes to you both! 💕,
You live in a gorgeous village Love the greenery in the background. Are you over there in lock down as well? Take care
ReplyDeleteWow quite substantial changes! You definitely made the right move Diane, you guys have so much fun. Are you still allowed to do that lovely walk through the bush area across from you?
ReplyDeleteThree years already! I just realised we got our Kandos house three years ago too. You have certainly seen a lot more changes in your locality than we have here.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't time go quickly!
ReplyDeletePleased you made the right decision.
All the best Jan
That's such a lovely community. I can see why you are happy there and your kids are happy too.

Three years already? Time flies! I think you and Bill made a fabulous decision to move to this retirement village. I hope my husband and I will be able to do the same here one day in the future.
ReplyDeleteYou made the perfect decision. As you know we’ve thought about it and I’m now wondering about it again in light of the changes going on in the world.
ReplyDeleteHow good you are very pleased with your decision to move there; it looks like an attractive place to live.
