My Story continued
Do you remember those photo albums that had sticky pages with a plastic overlay? They were popular in the 70's and 80's. Well mine have lost the stick and photos are falling out besides the fact that the glue was harmful to photos. So I am in the process of putting the old photos into new albums. While I do that I scan them to make a book of them as well so each daughter can have a copy if they want.

Sonya's third birthday
OMG the fashions then??? Safari suit and long day dresses.
My brother David came over from England to visit us. First he went to Sydney and then he drove my Mum, Dad and Aunt Ada to Brisbane to visit us.
First photo of my brother and I for years.
It was a long time since we had our whole family together.
My mother has a lot of those same photo albums and yes, photos fall out. Time consuming but great that you are dealing with them.
ReplyDeleteThese are such nice photos brings back memories ! The fashion wearing long dresses comes back ! Or is back. Lots of girls and women are now in long dresses. Blogger doesn't sent the comments in my mail anymore they have a bug, so I have to check in my comment list ! We have a little fan to put on the table but's enough for both of us when watching TV. Otherwise we sit in the dark with windows and shutters closed. Since yesterday we are back to normal temperatures 24/25 °C !
ReplyDeleteI remember those old sticky albums well - may even have some tucked away somewhere. You're doing a grand job to be preserving these memories.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection and family Diane. What a treasure to have.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, still have photos in those albums but mine haven't fallen out. I should do what you have done and still doing...might get around to it one day.
I always like to see the old photos. I watch them and am surprised about the fashion we were wearing indeed. My husband had a bundle of curls on his head and hairy sideburns...
ReplyDeleteI always laugh looking back at old photos, you are right how the fashions have changed!! Keep well. Have a good day, t'other Diane
ReplyDeletethose long dresses are BACK, the stores are full of them, both on the racks and on the women... i do hope the safar suits do not come back, those and the leisure suits. ha ha... yours girls are so cute and they still look the same now.. fun visit back in time. i still have a few of those books you are talking about
ReplyDeleteLove seeing pictures from the '70's... One of my sons was born in 1970 and our youngest son, in 1971...... Great memories of my babies.... Do you still see your brother? Both of my brothers are dead now...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Precious memories!
ReplyDeleteSweet photos of the girls. Good memories of family visits. Oh yes, I had several of those sticky backed albums and they all had to be redone a few years ago too. Fashions, well, what can I say? Thank goodness they change with time - haha!
ReplyDeleteYes I do remember those sticky pages and what they did to my photos...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to scan and make books for your family. They will be treasures for years to come.
Those sticky albums ruined a lot of my photos. I lost quite a few and had to make new albums out of the survivors. I’m sure your daughters are very happy to have scanned copies of these. Beautiful memories!
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember those old sticky albums well …
ReplyDeleteVery good idea to scan the photographs, they hold special memories.
All the best Jan
Ah, nostalgia! What a great trip down memory lane! It's great to have these captured moments.

ReplyDeleteYes, I also had some of those older magnetic page albums, Diane, and photos did fall out after many years. Now I have replaced all of them and quite often found replacements at local thrift stores as folks sadly don’t keep photo albums in this age of everything digital.
ReplyDeleteI do remember those albums with sticky pages Diane, I have many stuck away in a cupboard. Must do the same as you and sort them out. You have lots of precious memories there, the girls are as gorgeous as their mum ✨
ReplyDeleteYes, those sticky album pages have done the same to our photos too Diane. Thanks for the timely reminder for me to get back to restoring them. They're so special.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your beautiful family - your girls are such cuties.
I am working my way through my "sticky" albums and scanning the photos so I can reduce space. I find some have completely lost their stick and others won't give up their grip without a fight.
ReplyDeleteLovely memories.
ReplyDeleteI am going through a very similar process as you were when you wrote this post. Sorting through boxes of old pictures and putting them in albums.
