SENIORS ON THE MOVE

So many of our friends are selling their houses and moving into apartments or villages. We visited our friends, Kathy and Rob yesterday. They used to live in the same street as us. We travelled to the USA with them a few years ago. They have recently moved into a high rise apartment at Kangaroo Point in the city. It is like Kathy has travelled the full circle. Over 30 years ago she migrated from California to Queensland. Her first home was in a big house in Kangaroo Point. Since then she married an Australian and she has lived in many different suburbs of Brisbane but now she has returned to her favourite place. Kangaroo Point. It is a peninsula sticking into the Brisbane River. They have bought the most beautiful apartment on the 9th floor of a tower with stunning views of the city and river.
The twin towers of Millennium Apartments Kangaroo Point. Each floor is one apartment.

Bill and Kathy admire the view.

Lunch and a catch up with Rob and Kathy.

  1. Wow! What views!
One advantage of my living in a very small house already is that I won't need to downsize later in life!

  2. yes, i could easily cope with that provided there was a lift, which i assume there is. the views alone would be worth it.

  3. A whole floor is one apartment! Let me look at the electric map to see where this kangaroo place is. Ok, I am impressed. 300 metres walk to the ferry across the river to town.

  4. Fabulous views. I wouldn't get much done if I lived there. Too busy gazing!

  5. Helo, the apartment building looks beautiful. Great views too. It makes sense to downsize and have less to take care of while in the "golden" years. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

  8. I was used to friends and acquaintances moving into retirement villages in New Zealand but it's not something I've come across here in the UK. If I lived in Australia or New Zealand I could envisage it as a choice I might make.

  13. The complex looks very modern and I can believe that it would be a pleasant home at any age.

  14. As homeowners whi also downsized from living in a house to an apartment, we totally get this decision. Your friends have a wonderful view off their balcony. And ghanks for showing the views to us, Diane.

  15. Wow, that's high ! I think I would get dizzy on the balcony ! But the view is great ! In my street too slowly slowly all elderly neighbours sold their houses and moved into apartments or retirement homes. They are replaced by the younger generation, we are becoming the antiques of the street !
