When most sensible people go north for winter holidays, I found myself winging my way south to Melbourne to spend time with the grands during their school holidays. Melbourne's hottest time of the day is colder than our coldest time of the day. I went with a case full of jackets and cords.
One day when mum and dad were at work and Banjo was at kindergarten, Fox took me for a walk. He was on his scooter and I walked fast to keep up. I had no idea where we were going but Fox was adamant that he new the way. It was a pretty walk through the parklands following a stream.
We walked about a three kilometres circuit and sure enough this little guy found our way home.

This way Grandma
We passed some pretty gardens
We watched the house next door being removed
After lunch we did it all again but this time with a football instead of a scooter.
Fox loves AFL Football and he plays Auskick. He is easily able to kick goals while I run and get the ball and kick it back to him.
After some time I pleaded to go home for a rest.
We stopped at the Glen Iris wetlands and looked for frogs. He found a big leaf for his little brother.
A passing cyclist offered to take our photo. Fox was very worried that I would drop the ball into the river.
Finally we were home and a rest in front of TV was a blessing.
Hello, wonderful outing with your grandson. He is handsome and growing so quickly. I am sure he will keep you young running after him. Great collection of photos. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrr.... You do look a little cold, my Friend... Looks like you had a great time with Fox.... He certainly kept you MOVING!!!!!! (Don't you wish you had some of that energy that kids have???? ha)
ReplyDeleteI know you enjoyed being with the grandchildren...
Hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteHe can certainly run rings around you. He is growing up so fast. Enjoy your time there.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having fun despite the cold weather. T'other Diane
ReplyDeleteSometimes its hard to decide whether keeping up with grandkids keeps you young or quite the opposite ! But either way it is great fun.
ReplyDeleteI can see shadows, so the sun is out. What more do you want? :-P
ReplyDeletei always think a change in climate is a good thing. at least it would allow you to appreciate your normal warmer temps. what a lovely post, a really warm fuzzy. lol. spending quality time with the grandkids is always a win. your little fox is very cute
ReplyDeleteMy what a big adventure you had with Fox! Kids are so fun. The flower you passed was gorgeous. Great you can play football with him.
ReplyDeleteLucky Fox to have such an active, willing, and trusting (except when it comes to his football. Love that bit!) grandparent! And lucky you to have such a delightful little man for company. Gosh, they do grow quickly, don't they?
ReplyDeleteWhile I was in the "hot" Ireland with 18° but fortunately no rain, you were in Melbourne ! That's nice that you could spent a week there ! I see that Fox also looks like little Dracula, Toby has lost 3 front teeth now !
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a wonderful time with the little guy! I do hope that our cold snap for the next 4 days misses you! I have to say our winter has been pretty nice up til today!
ReplyDeletemy favorite part would be the last photo in front of the TV. I like that photo a lot. that is one really big leaf... he sure has grown up so fast
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you got plenty of exercise while you were in Melbourne. At least that would help keep you warm.
ReplyDeleteA lovely walk with Fox. It's been fun to see him at different ages. He looks quite the young man now :)
ReplyDeleteYou both looked like you were having fun, Diane.looking forward to seeing more photo posts of your time with Banjo and Fox.
ReplyDeleteCold? It doesn't look cold at all. What a wonderful time you had with your beautiful grandson and the environment there looks great as well. Beautiful flower shot
ReplyDeleteYour grandson has grown into handsome boy. I remember Fox when he was a tiny thing, the one time you and I were able to meet in person up in Los Angeles. He is now leading you on all sorts of adventures when you visit. We are enduring blistering heat these days, so hearing about your cold weather feels very refreshing! Enjoy your time with your two grandsons and family.
ReplyDeleteThe pink flower looks like it was made from feathers. What a lovely day with your grandson. Those little guys sure keep us busy, don't they!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had some great adventures with some pretty special people even if it was a bit cold. As a contrast, we just spent time with our grands in Arizona, and while we were there the temperature hit 119 F, which I think is around 48 C. That that was hot!!!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun when Grandma comes visiting. Lovely photos make great memories with your grandson.
ReplyDeleteGrandchildren certainly keep you busy.. and exhausted 😀 we are so lucky to have the time to spend with them!
ReplyDeleteAs yet I have no grandson but your post brought back memories of my time with my New Zealand Family when the children were young. It seems so long ago. As for 'cold' Melbourne I have just been looking at the temperatures: they are about the same as they are here on Lewis this week (and we think it's warm!). I do miss my NZ life!
ReplyDeleteHe can certainly run rings around you. He is growing up so fast. Enjoy your time there.
