It was time to celebrate a birthday with Birthday Bear again. This time it was Mary's birthday, which was last month close to mine but we wait a month to stagger the lunch celebrations. (Read about our Birthday Bear tradition here)
Mary loves gardening and spends a lot of time working in her garden. Recently she accidentally cut a big chunk out of her finger with the shears. She has had it stitched and was administered a tetanus injection and antibiotics. Bear also managed to cut her paw badly while gardening and has it all bandaged up. We celebrated at the Pacific Golf Club in Carindale.
Birthday Bear was already waiting on the table when Mary arrived. Bear has her gardening clothes on including bright red garden gloves. Bear also has a bandaged paw and blood dripping from it. There is a little Dr Bear there too with a stethoscope, head lamp, bandage and a bottle of anti biotic tablets (mints really)

Mary shows Bear her saw finger too.
Helen dressed bear this time and is seen here giving Bear her tetanus shot. The good thing about being retired oldies, is that other patrons don't take any notice of our silly antics in the restaurant.
A handsome waiter took this shot for us. (l to r Bill, George, moi, Bear, Mary, Helen and Ann.)
So much fun Diane.. must have been pretty ouch when Mary cut her finger, I did too a while ago, I must admit I didn't think of having a tetanus shot!
ReplyDeleteIs that bear ever sober? Every time I read about him he is celebrating :-) Hope the finger (and paw) healed well. Take care t'other Diane
ReplyDeletewow what a great dressed up bear Love that little jeans Very clever Was it self-made? Looks like you all had a good time
ReplyDeleteI think anyone who saw you all with Birthday Bear would think how cute and adorable Birthday Bear is and what a great idea he/she is not sure if Bear is male or female can't remember if you have told us in the past
ReplyDeleteWhat fun...and such creative dressing and staging of the birthday bear; very clever!!! We have been to a few lunches/celebrations at that golf club as so many of DH's former work colleagues live on that side of town.
ReplyDeleteYes it's amazing what we oldies can get away with which would not always be tolerated in youngsters.
ReplyDeleteThat bear has a better social life than me!
ReplyDeleteYou do keep that Birthday Bear busy! Had to laugh at the "final touch" of the clever dripping blood. Well done!
ReplyDeletewow the bear loks great
ReplyDeleteAlways love the bear celebrations! You might be oldsters, but you have young imaginations.
ReplyDeleteThat is a real nice outfit, Beat is wearing ! Can't say that you all have a lack of creativity !
ReplyDeleteHope Mary's finger is all healed! She must have loved her BD Bear. Did I miss seeing yours?
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of fun with your bear birthdays, apart from snipping the thumb. I snipped once into my wrist, fairly deep when I missed a bottlebrush twig! I did not go to the doctor as I am a tough gal, it closed up by itself, there was nearly no blood, I think it was the shock.
ReplyDeleteHope that both Mary and Birthday Bear heal, but both had big smiles for the celebration.
