After the late night before watching the turtle lay her eggs we had a sleep in. Then we had a leisurely breakfast and went for a stroll along the beach front at Bargara (on the central coast of Queensland)
Some of the birthday bear group, Mary, Bill, Helen, Paul and George. Ann was on a park bench soaking up the beauty of the sea and I was behind the camera. |
It was a very hot day so we didn't venture too far out of the shade.
On the return walk I was interested in the variety of beach accommodation. This was a neat house but..
there was a well worn beach house and...
a spruced up old house trying to hold off the encroachment of new apartment blocks.
Then we arrived back at our apartment block. We had lunch, a rest and a swim in the pool before it was time to prepare a BBQ birthday dinner with Birthday Bear.
The boys kept an eye on the BBQ, with Paul doing a great job of cooking.
We had a relaxing dinner by the pool watching a big orange moon rise.
It looks like a great place to stay. No, not the run down Queenslander, but where you are staying.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, George! The beach houses remind me of the ones we have along the SA coast.
ReplyDeleteHow cute, birthday bear the tree lopper. And Happy Birthday to George. The whole trip sounds like fun. Those high rises seem to pop up next to the water views. I am glad everyone had a great time. Have a happy day, Diane!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Diane. Those houses, we see those when we go north. Looks a bit weird with high rises and the humble beach home.
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice day and you were very creative again with your oufit for birthday bear.
ReplyDeletewow some special holiday too and great accommodation. Nice to share with special friends and you sure do great things personalizing the birthday bear for each occasion. I turned 67 today, no more balloons or sparklers, just a quiet one..that was nice too.
ReplyDeleteok, this means since i will be 70 in sept we need to plan a five day vacation.. right?
ReplyDeletei love that beach... water, sand and big beautiful shade trees all in one place. nothing better. and i would like to stay in that spruced up old house between the tall buildings and 2nd choice is the not spruced up house...
treelopper bear. so cute!
ReplyDeletelove that little yellow home stuck there between those apartments. hold on!
A belated but Happy Birthday to George!
ReplyDeleteI like that little cottage as well. I hope they never let it go.
Who do you call to arrange such a perfect day as that!? It seems even the weather and moon conspired for perfection.
ReplyDeleteAnd your Birthday Bear is much the best host I've seen in a great while---dressed perfectly for the occasion, down to chain-saw and ear-protectors---why, I'll bet there are even steel toes in those little plaid kickers.
I hsve such an unexplainable love for your home and all the adventures and sheer beauty it offers. So glad you got to have all these wonderful times, and double-glad you so graciously share.
says Rachel, sitting here midst the melting snow (40s predicted today!) and soaking up your sun
Sounds like a terrific birthday bash. Great photo of that beach house between the apartments!
ReplyDeleteWe're in the midst of a big snow so it's such a treat to see birthday bear in his shorts and a picnic at the beach! And so glad to see BB is wearing his ear protectors. I'm sure bears have very sensitive ears. :)
ReplyDeleteDiane, I wish I had birthday bear for my 60th in May! He could wear a helmet and sit on a bike. George looks happy to be 70. A beach vacation with friends would be great!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the best dressed and best traveled bears anywhere.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly had a beautiful setting for the Birthday Bear celebration. I really like the way you decorated Birthday Bear.
ReplyDeleteBirthday Bear certainly gets around and never seems any worse for wear. Love those trendy head-phones.
ReplyDeleteAnother successful birthday bear celebration. I have to say he is one of the best and cutest dressed bear I have ever seen, plus very famous :) Have a great weekend Dianne!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous place to celebrate a Birthday... Happy Birthday to George.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the little house sitting between those highrises. Reminded me of Myrtle Beach, SC.... The highrises are taking over the entire area.... Darn!
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
Love the new Birthday Bear get-up! He looks wonderful and it was a nice touch to pay tribute to the help you get in your garden by your tree-lopping friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fun wiht your birthday bear group, and bet the bear had a fun time too!
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, thanks for the recent visit to our Frog & PenguINN blog. I also had a Feb birthday a couple of weeks ago AND like bears (especially Boyds Bears) so maybe I will need to have a birthday bear celebration next year too! What a great way to spend a birthday with good friends, good food and great weather!
