OFF TO SAN FRANCISCO

We had been at Sonya and Bernie's apartment in West Hollywood for three weeks helping look after Fox while mummy was busy with the newborn. However, it was time for us to leave and take a short vacation before returning home. Our other daughter, Carol had arrived to take over from us. So we spent a day showing her the routine.

First you push him in the buggy to the park and play with him for an hour or so then.......
after the park you continue on to "The Grove" open air shopping mall where there are many upmarket shops, restaurants, "yo-yo" (yoghurt) shop for Fox and a......

 coffee shop for  you.

Fox likes watching the fountain for a while and........

he loves waving to the driver of the old trolley bus as it trundles by ringing its bell.

You can say hello to the shoe shine boy....

and watch the filming of a morning show with well known celebrities.....

before returning home to make his lunch and put him down for an afternoon nap. Fix lunch, wash the dishes, fold the washing and grab a rest or nurse the baby before Fox wakes up. Change his nappy and take him downstairs to play in the back yard.

Bye bye we're off to San Francisco!

  2. Love your photos Diane, plus the birthday ones too.
You certainly had a good time, a time to treasure with your grandchildren.
Fun isn't it, and keeps us on our toes :)

  3. Taking care of little ones takes a lot of energy doesn't it, Diane? It's worth it though. Your daughter's LA neighborhood looks very pretty!

I'm looking forward to seeing your San Francisco photos --it is one of my favorite cities!

  4. I bet Carole returns home more buggered than you two!! Quite a routine isn't it? But doable as long as you don't need much 'personal time'.

  5. Apart from the lack of chocolate, I'd rather like to have a typical Fox day... :)

  6. Sounds like a full day. Believe me, I know. I just went through a week of it. Rhea is still a darling little girl although she's sure she is queen of the earth and everything has to be done her way. The baby - 15 months - screamed from sun up to sun down. And the screaming wasn't just baby crying. It was full sounding RAGE crying. All day long every day. She'd go to bed at night sleep through the night, and then start all over again the next morning. I might go back in about 20 years or so. :)

  7. Good God Diane. With all those instructions it's a wonder Carol-Ann wasn't on the first plane available out of LA!
I suppose you gave the poor girl a list with times attached? I hope Carol-Ann remembers all this and gives you a list of chores when you next visit Sydney! Tit for tat, eh?

Looking again at the Hollywood Mall shown on your "walkies, yo-yo stuff and the special coffee for TOH", would suggest that this is a very up-market area of Hollywood. Just so clean!

    Cheers
    Colin (HB)
PS: And please don't bother writing out a list for me, when next I see you!

  10. Diane, I love your header photo!

This looks like a great way to spend a morning. It would probably be a bit tiring with a little one like Fox but still lots of fun.

  12. Sounds like you had a everyday busy schedule with Fox... Lucky little boy---getting all of that attention... Can't wait to hear more about your little trip to San Francisco.

By the way, please let us know when Bernie is in a movie or TV show here. What has he been doing??? We don't want to miss him!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

    1. Just Google "Bernard Curry" and should find a page that tells you what he has done and what he is doing.

  13. It sounds as if you have the routine down pat, but I got tired just reading about it. The yogurt certainly sounds good.

  14. Sonia is lucky to have such a devoted sister ! and apparently you also had a great time and the occasion to see quiet a lot of Holliwood ! Amsterdam is rather boring ! Except that you risk your life because of the cyclists and you could eventually fall into a canal !

    1. I prefer Amsterdam to LA as a tourist, but they do live in a nice area with everything close.

  15. Yes, that sounds like the life for a busy little boy! It looks like your daughter lives in a lovely neighborhood, with everything they could possibly need close by! Glad Carol could join you, too!

  17. I know my little Sammy does really well on his schedule - it made watching him so much easier than I remember with my granddaughters.
I know you had fun but I also know you miss him, and Banjo, already!
