WATERSPOUT

It was a cold and stormy day yesterday. We were blogging away when our SIL, David said, "Hey, look out of the window."

This is what we saw...I grabbed the camera and was lucky to get these shots from the balcony. Waterspouts are mini tornados, they usually lose momentum before coming to land.

  1. So exciting you were able to capture the waterspout. There must have been a few about, as they were mentioned on the weather tonight.
    All the best, Jan

  2. Wow, I'm glad they usually lose momentum. It's cold in Sydney? Of course I knew your seasons were opposite (really and I even know why ;>) -- but except for this post, your skies are always so bright and blue. Being originally from Oregon (dreary and rainy in the winter), I tend to forget that it can be cold when the sun is shining.

  10. It is a scary sight! Tornados do so much damage here. I'm glad they lose power there before coming to shore. Your photos are fantastic!

  13. Brilliant shots Diane. They are difficult to capture.

Seven Shillings Beach certainly is a peculiar name. I did a bit of research and it seems the name came from the price of the fishing rights on the beach sold by Aboriginal Gurrah, to local William Busby in the 1800s. I've added the info to my post.
