EXCITING HOMECOMING

After spending three weeks in Sydney we were sad to say goodbye to family but very excited to be coming home because we knew we would have a brand new kitchen when we arrived. We have fantastic neighbours, Joanne and Keith. They have a kitchen manufacturing business called "Kitchen Magic." Earlier this year we asked them if they would renovate our kitchen while we were away. We spent a few days together planning and choosing appliances. We also wanted the floor fixed and relaid. It was not level and squeaked. Keith organised someone to to do that for us as well. Before we left for Sydney we emptied the kitchen cupboards into cartons and put them in the back room. I quickly took some shots of the 20 year old kitchen before we left.
Keith and Joanne picked us up at the airport. (How kind is that?) They were excited too as they wanted to see our faces when we saw the new kitchen and floor.

Wow! We were very happy with it. They had cleaned all the dust out of the house too.

After
We have to paint the walls now. I'm thinking of a soft blue. A big thank you to Joanne and Keith, the best neighbours, who looked after our house and renovated it while we were away, and ferried us to and from the airport.

  1. Diane, just love the 'new' look. The white is very modern and the design appears to be very practical.
You will have renewed enthusiasm for cooking these days. Enjoy!
Thank goodness also for wonderful neighbours.
    You are truly blessed.

  2. What a wonderful transformation! And that servery will be sooo useful. I like the clean low look and those colours are wonderful.

Do you think grey might be too ... too the same? There is a lass in Victoria (Letty) who has a blog called 'Freefalling' who has a wonderful eye for colour. I will sool her onto you ... She is very retiring but great fun.

  3. Whuuuuttt?! I want those neighbors. I will even buy them a house next door to me. :))) What a great blessing to you. I love the new look but hey...I even loved the 20 year old look. I'm thinking I would love your house judging from photos you've taken of it in the past. And now.

  4. What wonderful neighbors! Your new kitchen is a lot different, eh?

My son did some painting recently and did a gray with a bluish-purplish cast to it which is very lovely.

Enjoy. Wonder if your food will look different in the new white background? Hum!

A beautiful reason to be gone, a great reason to be back! Love the renovation. Your neighbors are great at their job and so nice too.

  8. What great neighbors and friends you have!

Your new kitchen looks very sleek and modern and easy to keep clean too. I like all the storage space and how it is arranged.

We all have our own color preferences...I gravitate toward the warmer colors myself....

  9. Wow, do I envy you more your new grandchild or the new kitchen? ...well, both! And your neighbours too. Warm grey is a very trendy colour - would need some zingy accesories too I think ...pink? orange?

  15. Ddiane...The old kitchen looked good. The new one is white, I gather from the photos. The walls would look lovely in an almost white pale blue.

  16. Diane...I had another look at your kitchen and suggested almost white walls with a pale blue tint. Blue blockout blinds would be lovely as the colour would reflect giving a lovely pale blue here and there.
