After the last Birthday Bear celebration we were soon on our way to Sydney. We drove down, taking two days. We stopped at Armidale for the night. In the morning frost covered the trees, it was cold and different for us coming from frost free Brisbane.
We arrived in Sydney and booked into our accommodation the day before Sonya, Bernie and our two little grandsons arrived from LA. We came down to help them settle into their rented house while Bernie starts work for Channel Seven.
The first night we had dinner at Carol and David's apartment. It is great to know that both our daughters will be in Sydney for a few months.
The boys are as cute as ever but they are suffering jet lag.
Banjo can give us a smile now.
We enjoyed minding the boys while mummy and papa get the house organised. (Watching Fireman Sam in calm down time before a nap.)
I was so happy to be with my wonderful daughters on this special birthday. I have always said I'm going to climb a mountain when I'm seventy so, for a present, the girls have bought a ticket for the three of us to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is not quite a mountain but it is an exhilarating climb. Its going to be exciting. Hope I make it!
And I'll be there filming you climb up onto the coat hanger, it'll be fun!

Happy Birthday Diane and how wonderful that you were able to celebrate it with the whole family and special friends. Your grand babies are so adorable. Also would you please tell Bill when I popped into his blog the other day, that not only did I love all his photos, but I thought the one he did of Fox with his name was so clever. It's great that you have the girls in Sydney for a while. I know you are going to enjoy every moment of that.
ReplyDeleteP.s. enjoy climbing your mountain. I know you can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely you are all together for your birthday, and such a great gift.

You are so blessed and HAPPY BIRTHDAY - you don't look a day over 20! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand time. A happy belated birthday. My mother, six years your senior, has not a clue about computers and has only flown once from Mildura to Melbourne. You are a high achiever.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Diane. 70!!! Get outta here!
ReplyDeleteHappy 70th Diane!
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely wonderful you could spend it with all your family!!
Enjoy the time and climbing a bridge - you are adventureous!!!
Congratulations and many more years.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Happy Birthday Diane ! and what better way to celebrate it with all your family together in one place. I hope you make it to the top of the bridge .... Remember to take your camera..
ReplyDeleteGreat to know that all went well for the 70th.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to climb the "coat hanger" but no amount of
money would get me up there now. I think I would have to blindfolded and lead up to the top. I look forward to your photos, that will suffice for me.
Hope you get a fine sunny day for your version of "Climb Every Mountain", even if this one is a bridge!
Cheers (in between wheezes!)
Colin
PS: Bill, are you a "scardie cat" also when it comes to heights?
oh my goodness...I've heard about that bridge (from someone who just couldn't bring herself to do it!)...Can't wait to read all about that adventure! Your grands are just adorable. Love, love that little towhead with his tired little eyes! Happy birthday, too!
ReplyDeleteHeartiest Congratulations Diane and how great to be spending your birthday with your family like that! I see you're wearing what must be your 70th Birthday Badge too. Happy bridging - you'll have a wonderful climb being the Adventurer that you are :D) xx
ReplyDeleteWow, climbing the bridge will be an amazing adventure. I'd rather climb a mountain, myself, but you are very brave to consider such a challenge as the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Good on ya, mate.

PS, your grandsons are adorable indeed.

Diane, 70 is a special birthday. Happy Birthday, I wish you many more too. How nice that your daughter and her family will be living so close. You are brave to climb the Bridge, I have seen them make the climb on the Oprah show. Your grandson are just adorable. Wonderful shots of the family. I hope you have great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteSuch a special day for you to have both daughters and your dear grandsons celebrating with you! You are such a wonderful inspiration in the adventures you are taking with your husband. I would never attempt to scale the bridge but judging by your grest spirit of adventure you are going to enjoy the experience. Happy 70th Birthday Diane! Hope the year ahead brings you health, happiness and many special family times!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations with your birthday, a respectable one. Great you could celebrate it with your family, the little boys look adorable. One daughter is your spitting image, funny to have a look-a-like. Hope you will be able to travel a lot so we can enjoy your adventures.

Oh HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Diane! What a wonderful treat to have all your family and both your beautiful daughters with you on this special day. You are truly blessed. I look forward to your "mountain" climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge! You are truly adventurous and brave. Have a wonderful year and enjoy the months with the family nearby. Blessings Jo
ReplyDeleteHappy happy belayed birthday to you !! How wonderful that you could celebrate with the whole family to enter into the 7+0 club ! I have one year to wait then I will be in too !
ReplyDeleteI couldn't read blogs because I was on my roundtrip through Tunisia and we now stay until wednesday here in Sousse to rest from this tiring trip, it was far too hot, I had booked to late. We should have travelled end April/May, we had up to 50° in the desert ! I wrote everyday just to keep a diary.
Happy Birthday - you don't look a day over sixty, dianeb!
ReplyDeleteHappy 70th Birthday, Diane! I never would have guessed you were so close to a new decade--you look wonderful and are always so full of energy. It was very nice your entire family could be there for your special day!
ReplyDeleteI was so tempted to climb the Sydney bridge when I visited, but I felt awkward going all by myself, and worried that if i couldn't make it would I'd hinder everyone else in my group. I think it is very do-able if you can handle vertical staircases up and down. If I remember correctly they don't allow you to bring your own camera up for safety sake --it would not so well if it were dropped on cars below from that height, but I believe they take photos of everyone at different stages of the climb. Enjoy it and the views!
A belated Happy Birthday to you. It looks as if you had a great celebration, and I'm glad you had both of your daughters (and grandsons) with you. I have no doubt that you'll do great on the Sydney bridge climb.
ReplyDeleteDiane, happy birthday. It looks like your having a great time with your family.
ReplyDeleteDiane, a very happy birthday to you! Lovely to see you celebrate with your family. All my best wishes always.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Diane! How wonderful that you had your whole family together to celebrate! I"m sure you can do anything you set your mind to. Have a great time climbing the bridge!
ReplyDeletehappy birthday!! what a fun thoughtful gift from your daughters! beautiful pictures...
ReplyDeleteLovely shots here, Diane. I am glad you told me about this event during lunch today. A belated hip hip ... I am glad you are going on the BridgeClimb rather than I!
ReplyDeleteLooking at the colour of Banjo's 'hair', I suspect he may be darker than Fox. Is that the consensus?
Belatedly catching up here.... Happy birthday! Our birthdays are only a few days apart and I was 60. How lovely that you have all the family together again. I too spent my day being a grandma - fun but exhausting.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, dear Blogging Friend, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I too have been busy lately and have just now found time to catch up on your blog and all your news. I'm so happy to know you had your grands with you, as well as your daughters, for the big birthday bash! A better present I can't imagine. I wish you a year full of family, friends, adventures, fun and enough quiet time to reflect and be grateful for the joys of life. As always, all the very best to you.
