THEN THE SUN CAME OUT

We have had rain for a week and I was not able to go for my morning walks with my friends. However, today the sun came out so at 6:30 in the morning chill we set off for our walk through Priest Gully. There was evidence of all the rain that we have had.

Back in the village the flowers were drenched in raindrops.

Later we went for coffee at "Coffee in the Woods". It is a timber showroom with a coffee shop inside. It was something different.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A RAIN MAKES!

Not long ago we were suffering a drought and catastrophic bush fires. Then came the rain. It has put out the fires and got the farmers jumping with joy. (Although some unlucky ones have still missed out on rain.) Around the suburbs everything has turned green. Here are some photos from morning walks. Some in Daisy Hill Forest and others in Exillis+Dorset Park.
When we've had a lot of rain (remember Queensland is tropical and we get very heavy tropical downpours.) this turns the Daisy Hill Forest tracks into slippery mud slides full of big muddy puddles so we usually walk on the concrete pathway in Exillis+Dorset Park. 

 Priest Gully meanders through Exilis+Dorset Park but it had been dry for months until the rain came.

 By the time we could get out after days of rain the creek was running wildly and you could see by the debris how high and wide the water had been rushing by.

 And the shrubs and bushes were springing up again. My walking buddies are not impressed with me keep stopping for photos.

The grass is so high the wallabies are hard to see now.

When the rain stops for a few days we go into the forest again. We start off on the concrete path through the picnic area but soon we head off into the forest onto the dirt tracks. 

We were amazed at how green the picnic area was compared to a few moths ago.

Even the trees have got more brighter leaves after dropping them when it was dry.

SPRING SHOWERS

It is so good to see the spring rain on my garden.

 The droplets are like diamonds shining in the trees.

IT'S RAINING or is it?

I welcome the sight of rain clouds gathering overhead, hoping, hoping that they will drop plenty of well needed rain on our parched garden and brown grass. We have had a few showers over the last few days but not the amount needed to soak into the ground.

Hopefully this time it will last longer.

Yes! Here it is, I hope it stays and doesn't blow over.

Alas! I no sooner came inside and it stopped. The clouds disappeared and back to our beautiful blue sky.

The birds are all excited now that they can find water easily. They are singing and chirping like mad and in the case of the parrots, screeching noisily. It is great to hear they are all happy.

The Magpies are warbling and squawking for food.

The Butcher Bird is singing for his supper and I am wishing for more rain.
