Readers may remember that I used to walk in Daisy Hill Forest every morning, well as we have got older we have found the tracks have got a bit unstable for us with washed out grooves from the rain and loose stones and rocks underfoot was getting a bit dangerous for us oldies. So now we walk in Exillis Park and Dorset Park where we still walk through bushland but on a concrete path which is more stable for us. We still enjoy the bushland, the creek and the wildlife. We walk about four km round trip it takes us an hour.
Wallabies are a small kangaroo. We see lots of them in the mornings. They are well camouflaged. Can you see her and her joey in her pouch?
Zoom in and there you are! So cute.
After rain the creek is muddy and full.
The vines love the rain.
We are having very hot and humid weather while in the northern hemisphere a lot of bloggers are having loads of snow.
Good for you that you are keeping up with your walking. That looks an interesting place for a walk.
ReplyDeleteFour kilometres in one hour is not impressive. Walking four kilometres by older is very impressive. That's got to be....I don't know how many steps. Steps are the way I judge walking distances, and my average is about 4,000 a day. My best, which felt like my worst, was 18 thousand and who would guess most of that was at airports.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful place for your walk. I love the Wallaby and the flowers at the end are beautiful.
Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
beautiful flowers and what a stunning place to walk, and lots more safe. same here, except this time Florida has freezing temps along with the northern USA... 32 this morning and that is cold and there was hard frost on windshields and roof tops. and I wore 3 layers of clothing and was still freezing. Bob had to unlatch beaus harness, my fingers were to cold to do it..
ReplyDeleteA lovely area to walk Diane, walking 4 km is good to be able to do that.
ReplyDeleteThe wallaby is gorgeous there with Joey.
You have a beautiful place for a walk, Diane, and while your weather is so much nicer than here in New England now, I prefer the colder temps now. Besides, eventually, our weather will change as will yours.
ReplyDeleteCute little baby in the pouch. I can't imagine seeing these every day - we only see them, of course, in zoos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bush and walking 4km is pretty good. How cute the wallibi with her joey. There are wallabies about 3 hours from here. They are seen as a pest though :(
ReplyDeleteIt's good you found an alternative walking path that is safer for you. That's very important. I hope it won't get too hot for you. Too hot or too cold is not good. I love the kangaroo and her baby. Great capture!
ReplyDeleteI love the sunlight on your zoom image of the wallaby and joey. We could really do with some more of the moisture shown. The petunias really are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem I only walk on paved paths, thankfully they're here in the park. I don't climb the hills anymore to see the cats in their house, I've already fallen twice! The wallabies are so cute! I see foxes here, and since there are two ponds, there are lots of geese and swans. It's not my legs that give out, but I get out of breath quickly, and then I can lose my balance. Oh well, that's life you can still have fun!
ReplyDeleteAnother raised hand here for walking on paved nature paths. (I tried to hike on the opposite kind in CR and ended up falling over a stick --or maybe my own big feet . Our guide got to use his first aid skills. (Nothing serious but it could have been-- I was more scared than injured). Your park is lovely and I think it would be wonderful to see a wallaby and her joey in the wild even just once - thanks for letting me experience it vicariously!
ReplyDeleteI can no longer walk on rickety old pathways but looks like you found new walks that are just as enjoyable. That wallaby mom with her joey is adorable! What a joy to see them in their own natural habitat. Lovely walking along with you Diane, thank you so much and have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great trail for a walk, so much to see and nice shade too. Good for you.
