Our Managing Director of the village, Chiou See and her staff and family organised a New Year's Eve and Anniversary Dinner. It was a Murder Mystery and Gatsby theme. The village has been operating for 14 years. We usually celebrate the anniversary in September but Chiou See and husband Brendan were away in South America on holidays. So on NYE we made a small effort at dressing up in Gatsby gear and went to the Community Centre for some fun.We met our maintenance man outside with his classic car popular in the Gatsby era.
Bill's white braces wouldn't stay clipped onto his pants. So he has to hold up his pants.Residents waited in the air conditioned Pool Room until we were allowed into the hall due to Brendan setting up the mystery murder scene and organising the volunteer resident actors.
The Murder Mystery and Gatsby theme was a great idea, especially for us oldies. The clothes and headgear still look good to me :)
ReplyDeleteYou all are looking good in your costumes.
ReplyDeleteSounds a good night, Diane.
There are some very good efforts at getting the look right. It sounds like it was fun.
ReplyDeleteThe party sounds fun, great costumes and photos. Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! It looks like another fabulous party and a fun time had by all.
ReplyDeletewhat fun what fun. everyone looks great and I like the one of the two of you and that old car..
ReplyDeleteWhat fun Diane! I am always impressed by your parties :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a cheerful celebration and you look great on the picture ! Bill holding his pants, lol ! The costumes too are nice, I should suggest a costume party, but people are not used to that at all ! Our animator Kim wants us to play bowling in a real bowling ! The lightest ball weighs 5 kg ! When I look at my little residents some of them with walking problems and in a wheelchair, I told him that it is too dangerous. We will see, I warned him ! He is young and cannot imagine that we have a few years more !
ReplyDeleteSuch fun, I often wished we lived in a social community.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a fun party. I love the theme and the interaction it created.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to all of you.
To answer your question on my blog post.. my bottom crust on the pot pie was soggy too, so it didn't come out in nice slices. We ended up just "dumping" our portion into a bowl and enjoyed the flavors and contents anyway, ...haha.. I don't know how to keep it from getting soggy. Maybe if I had put the potatoes down as a base??? then I would have had a mess anyway...It tasted good and gave me "blog fodder" for my post..
P.S. Love that your hubby had to hold his pants up because of the Braces failure..

You guys always have such fun activities.
ReplyDeleteThat yellow classic car looks so cool.
Great pictures, you all look good in your costumes.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
What a great idea. Even I (a non-party person) would enjoy that.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and Bill and your neighbors had a great time at the mystery party, Diane. The costumes and the theme looked like it was a good start to 2025.
ReplyDeleteIt's also sweet that Chiou See and her team organized it, even with the delay due to their South American trip. The classic car outside must have been a fantastic way to really set the scene, and I can imagine the volunteer actors added some fun drama to the evening!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny about Bill and his white braces—such a relatable moment in the midst of all the dressing up! I'm sure you all had a good laugh. It’s great that the event was relaxed but still full of effort, with drinks from the Bar Boys and a lovely meal prepared by Chiou See’s family and friends.
It looks like everyone had a great time! Maybe there's a way to fix the clips on his white suspenders? Hopefully! lol
ReplyDeletehugs
