It was our village monthly dinner again. We had a choice of Chicken Kofta with corn and vegetable potage or Lamb Kofta with cous cous and vegetable broth. Dessert was Orange Almond Cake with Chocolate Gnash. I had the lamb and Bill had the chicken and they were both delicious.
We also had a great guest speaker. He was Patrick Pickett, owner and conductor of Queensland's Pop Orchestra. He was tall and very funny making jokes about his size.
We are ready and waiting to be served but this night our highschool helpers couldn't come because it was their graduation night.
Dessert was delicious. I forgot to photograph the mains.
i like the photo of the short and tall of it all. too funny. I always enjoy a speaker with a sense of humor..
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful retirement community there. In comparison the one we were in was not as fun! We keep in touch with some friends we made there and with Covid the place has become quite tiresome and restrictive. Glad we made the move to be closer to oldest daughter and living in our own place again.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful group of photos! I am always impressed by these gatherings Diane. Thanks for sharing them, they always put a smile on my face :)

It's great the way everyone chips on to help. Your monthly dinners are always a big success.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see your photographs.
ReplyDeleteA great get-together for your October dinner.
All the best Jan
Orange almond cake sounds super yummy, but I don't know what a kofta is. Will have to Google it.
ReplyDeleteYour dinners always sound so fun.
Good to see everyone having fun. Nice photos Diane.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see another successful social occasion in your village.
ReplyDeleteThis dinner sounds delicious, Diane, and the socialization sounds like great fun!
ReplyDeleteIn Rick's place there are only 75 residents, but they play "restaurant". They choose a restaurant which delivers the menu. Not all of them can participate because of mental or physical problems. But the others like it very much, Rick too. The first time I thought they will take them in a bus to the restaurant, but finally it was in a private room. Looks nice and sounds good !
ReplyDeleteYour gatherings and food look great!
ReplyDeleteAnother great dinner and gathering. YOur community always seems to have a great time together.
ReplyDeleteYou really seem to be enjoying life since you moved to your new home. You are so lucky not to have had continuous lockdowns as we have had.
ReplyDeleteNow winter has arrived I hope to keep up more with blogs, summer was a busy time for me with the garden and the kitchen.
Cheers t'other Diane
Always enjoyable to see these monthly get togethers and meals at your residence, Diane. Nice too that so many residents come together to help with the serving and cleanup. You and Bill live in a great community.
ReplyDeleteSounds so fun -- I really want to look up the items on the menu because I don't know exactly what any of them are. But I'm already hungry just from their names.
